We went to see a very entertaining play today called Thoroughly Modern Millie. It was put on by the Florida State University School of Theatre. It had songs, dancing, comedy and my rapt attention for over two hours! To follow it up we went out for BBQ afterword! Yum! Yum!
In case you ever get the chance to see it, here is a synopsis of the play ...
The year is 1922 and Millie Dillmount has just moved from New York City from Kansas to start an exciting new life for herself. Taking advantage of the new opportunities available to women, she earns a job and sets out to find herself a husband on her own terms. As she flaps, taps, and Charlestons her way through the Roaring '20s, Millie learns there's more to being modern than the latest fashions, bobbed hair, and a boss who is a rich, eligible bachelor. There's a little thing called love that never seems to go out of style. Based on the popular movie, this vibrant musical is filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men, and hilarious schemes - all set against the backdrop of New York in the jazz age.
This is good stuff! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
