So the exchange rate of American Dollars into Euros is terrible and makes me very nervous about living in Ireland for 3 months. I'm bringing around $1300, however for every $2 American, you get maybe a little over $1 Euro. Luckily, they are giving me housing and the distance from my apartment to the castle is very walkable. I really only need worry about food. But still... $650 for 3 months???
So I e-mailed the guy who is running the program, expressing my concerns very politely, hoping that he will come through with a job for me. But then I worried about a work VISA, which I don't have any time to get and really can't afford. I was praying for him to find me some kind of under-the-table deal (then I wouldn't even have to worry about filing for taxes).
Then Stackhouse totally came through for me and found info for me to apply for a temporary work VISA. The only thing that sucks is that I can't apply for it until I get to Ireland so it will mean I'll have to phenagle ways to get to Dublin from Tullamore (which really isn't too far, only a train ride really). Or maybe I can make an appointment for when I arrive in Dublin. Granted, running around Ireland with all my luggage will suck... a lot. Here's hoping I can figure all this out fairly soon. I really need to get my butt in gear in order to organize everything. Blah.
Speaking of all this Ireland stuff, I'm not sure how much time I'll be spending on LJ or on the interweb in general. But I will be sending out weekly e-mails to family and friends who would like them.
Give me your e-mail if you'd like to stay in touch over the summer. I'm screening all the comments, so no worries on random people getting your info.
And give me your mailing address if you'd like a post-card, I'll definetly send you one. ^_^
