Title: The Journey of Prince Kyoya
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Genre: Humor, Adventure, Random Nonesense, Fairytale
Pairing: Mostly Gen, slight 1827
I never really paid any heed to the legend of The Forbidden Forest; I have always thought that it was some children’s tale. Of course I knew that gods exist, and that it isn’t impossible, but I never gave it a second thought. It was none of my concern.
My only concern is the rule of my kingdom. The kingdom I am to inherit once my father passes away.
Namimori is my top and only priority, and if anyone dare’s to disrupt the peace, I will bite them to death.
As time passed, Father began to grow ill and weary. I have neither ill intentions nor disrespect towards my father, I do not wish for him to die. It is for the Fates to decide when we will live and when we will die.
But the signs were there, I can tell it will not be long.

“Father?”
I knocked on the old wooden door of my father’s bedroom to announce my presence before slowly pushing the door open.
The scent of ancient oak met my senses as I entered. My father was rested upon his bed, already having succumbed to illness.
“Kyoya” he greeted me in his tired voice as I stride across the room, crouching beside him.
“Yes Father. Why have you called for me?”
He inspected me wearily before a sigh escaped his lips. “My son, I have high hopes for you, I know that you are more than capable to rule this Kingdom. Yet as your father, I must ask; when will you finally decide to settle down?”
“Settle down?” I ask him confusedly. What did he mean by that?
“Kyoya” he began exasperatedly, “I am old, there is little time left for me. And right now my only wish is to see my son finally fall in love and wed, even giving me grandchildren. You are still young Kyoya, handsome as well, I am not blind to not see how nearly every young lady in this kingdom desires to become your bride. Yet because of your personality, not one dares to approach you”
“And that is exactly how I want it to be. I have no desire to get married nor am I a subject to love” I explained to him.
He sighed again and I decided not to continue speaking.
“I will not force you Kyoya, yet I still wish that you would do this old man a favour” he looked at me with tired, half-pleading eyes. I knew I have no other choice.
I sighed. “Yes Father, as you wish”
I felt my eyebrow twitch when I saw my father’s face light up. I can tell that the smile on his face hides a smirk.

Soon after that, a ball was organized by my father, the king himself, in order to find me a suitable bride.
The whole kingdom was invited and so the Dancing hall was full of bodies, dancing or talking. I felt my face twitch, suppressing the urge to just bite everyone here to death and storm out. I absolutely despise crowds. And yet I try if only for my father’s sake.
As row upon row of mindless women present their hideous selves in front of me, I can feel my patience wearing thin.
And as some practically throw themselves at me, I felt that incredibly thin rope of patience snap.
I stood up, irritation engulfing my entire body and I glared at the women currently clinging to me.
“Get AWAY from me”
And that they did, as well as the rest of the people.
Unable to control my growing irritation, I stormed out of the hall. No one dared get in my way knowing the consequences. Good.
I could feel rather than hear my father’s sigh of disappointment; I couldn’t help but give one myself.
~~~.*.~~~
I rode my horse outside of the kingdom; I needed to be alone for a while to clear my head.
I dismounted my horse to perch myself under a large tree, I was atop a hill overlooking the kingdom. I sighed as I thought of the earlier events. It was not my desire to disappoint my father, especially near the end of his life; but I absolutely couldn’t remain there with all those herbivores crowding around.
I sighed again before hearing a familiar tune.
“Midori tanabiku, namimori no. Dainaku shounaku name de ii” I look up to spot a little yellow canary flying towards me and I felt a tug on my lips.
“Hibari. Hibari” I extended my hand for the little bird to land on and brought him close to me.
“Yo Hibird. How are you doing?”
“Genki Genki” he perched himself atop my head as he nestled in. I let the smile spread my face at this when I saw another little critter appear. “Roll” I called for him.
The little hedgehog was a shy one; he would panic at the smallest of thins, not to mention that he was easily scared. He climbed up my arm and I cradled him there, he was careful not to move around much because of his spikes. Smart little herbivore.
I just sat there enjoying the peace and quiet. More of the animals nestled around me and my lips stretched to a smile.
It woud be strange to see me, the cold blooded Protector of Namimori, surrounded by weak little animals that seemed to be comfortable around me. I myself have no idea why I attract these little creatures, but I’ve heard that I when I was born, Pan became my Godfather and gave me his blessing. I don’t mind.
“Hibari Hibari” I looked up to see Hibird flop off my hair and began flying somewhere. “Hibari Hibari” I looked at him confusedly.
“You want me to follow you?” I asked standing up. That was when all the other animals began to follow Hibird, urging me along. I decided to follow; I was here to kill time after all.
I walked alongside my horse, I haven’t named her yet. We seemed to have been going in circles, I was about to ask where we were going when all the animals stopped in front of a large Sakura Tree.
I stared at it, amazed. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, but it was currently fall, the tree was blooming out of season.
I approached it slowly, the animals parting for me to get by. The bark was cool, and the smell was nearing hypnotic I could feel myself falling asleep.
“Hibari Hibari” I felt something stab my leg as Hibird called and saw Roll there crying, I looked back at the tree to see myself nearly consumed by it .
“This… an illusion?” I immediately withdrew from the tree and sent questioning glares towards the animals.
It was Hibird who spoke. “Hime Hime. Mori NeMori”
At first I couldn’t understand, yet as my little pet repeated the words, realization dawned on me.
“This is The Forbidden Forest. The barrier that protects it” I stated. All of the animals nodded, signalling that I am correct.
Hibird flew towards the tree, pecking on something. I inspected it and found that there a small dent in the bark.
“What about it?” I asked him, an eyebrow raised questioningly.
The yellow canary then flew towards me and pecked on my finger. “My ring?” Looking at the dent again, I understood what he wanted me to do. “Alright”
There are only seven of these special rings in the world. They are proof that the holder is a descendant of the Royal Family. And they also have a mysterious power that can transform one’s resolve with flames.
Lighting my ring, I inserted it to the dent and the whole tree was engulfed with the Purple Flames that signifies my family, the Guardian of Clouds.
A doorway opened at the heart of the tree, leading to a completely different place. It was still a forest, similar to where I was, but it felt… different. As if it was a completely different world. It was as if there was something there, something… unseen.
I mounted my horse and slowly entered, no one came with me, not even Hibird. Thus this means I must do it alone.
~~~.*.~~~
Galloping across the forest, I lost all sense of direction. Everything looked the same; I couldn’t tell how deep I was inside, nor did I know for how long it’s been. But I could tell the sun has set and risen many times already.
I couldn’t find my way back and I didn’t know where I was headed. What is happening?
As I stood there, ignoring the hunger and thirst, I dismounted my horse and searched. I do not know what I am searching for, but I needed to think of something.
Lighting my ring again, I willed the flames to grow. With one punch, the flames again bathed the ground and my entire surroundings was wrapped with mist. As I looked around more, I saw a portal open in between two trees. The entire forest was covered in an illusion. I’d been going around in an endless circle.
I felt my flames growing again as irritation coursed through me, I do not tolerate being made a fool of. But I calmed myself; this was not the time nor place for me to lose my nerves. The barrier was made for a purpose.
Manoeuvring my way towards the portal, I found myself inside a clearing. I dismounted my horse and walked forward.
“Kufufu~ My… you are the first to ever break free from my illusion… ah” a voice called from the shadows, halting my steps. The man stared at me with his mismatched eyes. I glared at him but he ignored it. “You are of the Guardian of the Clouds I see” he states, eyes reaching my ring.
It was then I discovered that he was wearing one as well. “You. You are the Mage of the Mist?” I ask him. He smirked. I glared.
“What is your purpose for putting up this barrier and disturbing my kingdom?” I demanded. He merely laughed.
“Kufufu~ Well, I’m quite sure you are aware of what it is” he stated, inspecting me. “The Princess of the Sky is asleep here, and I do have to apologize but it is my job to keep intruders out” and as he said that, a trident suddenly manifested from the mist in his hands.
I smirked as I brought out my own weapons, my trusty tonfas by my side. In an instant I was on him, bringing my weapon down on his face, but he reacted quickly, blocking my hit with his trident.
“Hoh… I see you are the aggressive type. But that is not enough to defeat me” and this time he attacked. I jumped out of his reach in a split second, but he suddenly appeared in from of me, bringing his weapon down.
I blocked easily and counterattacked, it connected with his right shoulder, but I felt as if I only cut through air. His form dissolved, and I found his trident headed straight for my head, an attack from behind.
“Kufufu~ You’re good”
I smirked.
This went on for quite some time, the best fight I’ve ever had in my life if I may, but as the fight dragged on, I noticed how the surrounding would change bit by bit as if more disillusionment was happening. My eyes narrowed as I once again sent an attack to his side.
He stopped it with his bare hands, but I quickly noticed how he was beginning to disappear as well. “You are merely an illusion” I stated.
“Yes” he replied. “And I’m afraid that from where my original body resides right now, I will not be able to continue this fight. My illusions are growing weaker, and I myself and getting tired”
I myself was getting tired as well, but it was too much fun to let it end like this. I tugged my tonfa out from his hold and sent another attack to his head. He moved out of the way in time and smiled.
“Kufufu~ This was fun Hibari Kyoya, heir to the throne of Namimori Kingdom” he said. I did not remember mentioning my name. “I do hope we can continue this fight some other time. I’m afraid I have to go now”
I glared at him, sending yet another attack, but as my weapon connected with him, his whole body disappeared. I felt irritation grow within me, but it can’t be helped I suppose. I myself will be looking forward to the chance to fight that person again.
To be able to create an illusion able to fight equally against me even if his body is imprisoned to a cursed tree in the Dark Forest of Kokuyo Kingdom, it certainly was interesting. I should find out a way to get him out of there just so I can fight him one of one.
But right now I should find my way out of this place. I moved forward through the clearing and came across a cradle. I instantly froze.
There was a girl sleeping on the cradle, surrounded by beautiful flowers. She was beautiful, but her beauty was different from all others I saw. It was… simple, elegant. I could feel from where I stand the warmth that radiated through her.
So this was the cursed Princess of the Sky.
I approached her slowly, carefully, taking in everything about her; long brown hair that looked soft as silk, pale porcelain skin that glowed beneath the moonlight… and her Sakura like lips.
Losing any sense of self control, I leaned down and placed a kiss on her soft lips.
And to my surprise, her eyelids fluttered open, orbs of molten amber looked towards me confusedly, I could only stare back.
Gently carrying the Princess, I mounted her on my horse before riding off.
I didn’t have to go very far, I could already see the way out of the forest. The barrier had been broken.

Sawada Tsunahime, that was her name.
I never knew I had the ability to love until I met her.
She was kind and graceful, sweet, radiant. There are times where she annoys me, but I can never get angry at her; she was always so bright and cheerful that I could not even force myself to.
I asked her hand in marriage and soon after, we were wed. My father was, as annoying as it was, overjoyed, and he wouldn’t shut up, it seemed me getting a wife dispelled whatever illness he might have had.
I felt a twitch of a brow.
“Father, I have a request” I spoke to him one day when he was less busy, he turned to me.
“What is it my son?” he hummed cheerfully.
“Can I go on a quest to Kokuyo Kingdom?” I ask him, and he stared at me in surprise.
“Whatever for Kyoya?”
“To free someone from a curse”
“Why? Don’t you already have princess Tsunahime? Even though you are to be a king, it’s not good to steal all the girls”
“It is not a girl, father” I rolled my eyes.
He then looked at me, shocked. “K-Kyoya… uhm… well, are you really not satisfied with your beautiful wife? She is indeed magnificent and is now expecting a child. I-I suppose it is… alright to be curious about the same sex and all but… uhm… y-you shouldn’t…”
I felt a brow twitch.
“Kyoya, my son, are you… gay?”
I felt a vein pop, and murderous aura seeped through me. My father gulped.
“R-Right… of course, anyway ok it’s approved. See you next week Kyoya!” he called. At this I immediately left.
Now I really am itching to bite that Mage to death
