Back from my convoy! :D

Yup, I'm back, safe and sound, and I had FUN! When I got to the staging area for the convoy, I found out what truck I was riding in, and heard that it was one of the 7-tons. I was like..."Um...aren't all the 7-tons used as gun-trucks (meaning that they have an automatic machine gun mounted on a turret on them)?" Their respone? "Yeah, so?"
Anyway, I left it at that and went outside, figuring that it was only going to be a 240-G Machine gun. BOY was I proven wrong! When I got to my truck I found out that it wasn't a 240...it was the good 'ol 'MA DEUCE! aka the .50 caliber heavy machine gun...now THAT is a GUN! (if you don't know what the .50 cal looks like, here is a pic: .50 caliber machine gun) Talk about feeling the power! The only thing bad about it was that the people that had it before I did didn't clean it out, so it jammed...TWICE during my test fire. I ended up having to clean all of the dust off of it and lubing it up so it worked smoothly again, which is a chore.
When we finally got rolling, and were about halfway there, I was looking through my NVG's (Night Vision Goggles) and noticed something strange in the distance. There were tracer rounds shooting through the air! But I wasn't in any immediate danger, as they were too far away. I was wondering what was going on, but didn't find out until later that they had allowed the Iraqi people to celebrate their Olympic team getting a gold medal. I'm not sure at the moment which event it was though. It was over in about 20 or 30 minutes anyway.
After that, we got there and back without any incidents...and now I'm off to do my personal effects, one Marine was WIA (wounded in action) and we have to send his personal stuff back to the states, and go and get some sleep.

Ja ne!
