As someone at Ground Zero of The Late Unpleasantness, I cannot claim to have an unbiased opinion about the matter. mle292 is correct in saying this stuff is old, so my comments are less evaluative and more musing:

- The Hi-Res proposal was divisive in its results; Marscon and Convergence are the result. Is this a good thing? Depends on who you are. What I think is interesting is that Convergence has continued to progress in the direction that the Hi-Resolutionaries thought would be trouble. Not necessarily the case.

- There's little harm in noting that no matter how well-intentioned, the Hi-Res proposal was itself a failure, by its own standards.

- Minicon now has room to be whatever the current MinnStF board and membership want it to be. This is not a bad thing, in the final analysis, though the cost was high.

In the end, what existed before is now gone. How things progress forward are up to the people there. Worrying about old history, even to the extent of objecting to snark, is probably unnecessary.
