Title: Hands of Fate
Author: animeboycrazy
Pairing: Yunjae (main), Yoosu (side)
Rating: PG-13 (for now)
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters used in this story. The plot for the story was inspired by a manga entitled “Only the Ring Finger Knows” by Satoru Kannagi and Hotaru Odagiri. Italicized text usually means characters thoughts.
Summary: Two complete strangers find that an accidental encounter has brought their lives together…forever.

Jaejoong played with his silver band, tossing the ring between his two hands and twirling it between his fingers. He scrunched his eyebrows together as he thought about the events that had just occurred this morning. Images of the tall and slender senior he had seen in the bathroom kept running through his head, especially the way his soft features had suddenly turned so cold and the cruel stare he kept giving Jaejoong. And that deep, alluring voice was just so sarcastic and rude; he couldn’t believe that it was really THE Jung Yunho in front of him!

Hah, he has everyone in this school fooled. Those pretty looks may get him attention, but that attitude…

He let out a sigh and shook his head, slipping his ring finally onto his right middle finger. When the band was half way down the digit, it suddenly wouldn’t go any further. Jaejoong’s doe eyes widen in surprise as he removed the accessory and tried all of his other fingers only to find that it fit upon his left ring finger. He quirked his eyebrow upward and just stared at his hands in shock, lifting them closer to get a better look, to see if anything had changed.

A hand suddenly landed in the middle of his back and an all too familiar and smiling face appeared in front of his face. “Jae, I’m starving! Let’s go get something to eat. They have kimchi chigae for lunch today,” Yoochun stated excitedly, grabbing Jaejoong’s hand in his to pull the male along, but Jae just shook his head, staying rooted in his seat.

“I’m going to pass on lunch today. I think I started to pick up some weight. Time for a diet,” he said, letting out another sigh as he stared at the new position of his silver band.

“What the hell are you talking about? Do you know how skinny you are? If anything you’ve lost weight recently, not gained. Come on, you can’t let me eat alone...” Yoochun whined and tried to give his friend the best puppy face he could.

Jaejoong held up his left hand in front of Yoochun’s face. “Do you see? My ring doesn’t fit on my right hand anymore, but fits perfectly on my left hand.” His lips turned downwards slightly in a pout.

“B-but you just had it on an hour ago. How could you have picked up weight that fast? It’s impossible!” Yoochun almost yelled, his eyes bulging out as he stared at his friend like he had gone crazy.

“I don’t know either but it just doesn’t fit anymore and I…” The sudden rise in noise level of the room as all the students ‘whispered’ to one another stopped Jaejoong midsentence. He lifted up his gaze from his hand towards the doorway and could almost feel his jaw dropping to the floor as he stared at a somewhat familiar pair of chocolate orbs attached to a tall slender frame standing in the doorway. His eyes widened as he quickly dropped his head, trying to hide his face. He’s not looking for me, is he? No, of course not, why would he?

“What is Jung Yunho doing here?” Yoochun whispered into Jaejoong’s ear, but all he could do was shrug in an attempt to keep himself concealed.

“Kim Jaejoong. Where is he?” Yunho said aloud to no one in particular, his eyes scanning the room. The murmurs of all the students in the classroom grew louder, rumors and made up stories already circling. He furrowed his eyebrows upon finding his target and walked towards the front of Jaejoong’s desk, slipping his hands into his pocket.

“Yah, you could’ve answered me when I called your name. You can hear me, can’t you?”

Jaejoong bolted his heads upward at that all too familiar sarcastic being directed at him for the second time that day, his hand balling in a fast as he stood up from his desk. “H-hey! Don’t think its okay to talk…”

And for the second time that day, he could feel that wave of mixed emotions taking over his body, a slight warm feeling creeping upon his cheeks. Jaejoong knew that he should continue letting out his frustration at the senior, but at the same time, he couldn’t help but feel admiration for the tall man in front of him. How was it possible for someone to be so perfect and intoxicating just at first glance?

“Look, I didn’t come here to have another chat with you. I came to return this. Put out your hand.” Yunho lifted out his right hand, waiting for Jaejoong to respond.

“R-return?” Still feeling a little woozy from the effects that were Jung Yunho, the raven-haired junior nodded slightly and automatically held out his right hand underneath the male’s palm. A light weight descended into his palm and Jaejoong tilted his head and stared at the object, lifting it up to eye level for a closer inspection.

A ring. Silver with a gold stripe adorning the center. This looks like mine!

“We must have accidently switched rings at the washroom this morning. You are the one that took my ring, aren’t you?”

“What do you mean ‘my ring’?! Are you telling me that WE have the same ring?!”

“Humph. I’m not happy with it either.”

“Wah, he wasn’t kidding. This is my ring. You can tell from all the scratches.” Jaejoong slipped the band onto his right middle finger and lifted up his hand to show his best friend. “It even fits my finger again! And I thought I had gained weight…No wonder. Everything makes sense again.”

Jaejoong smiled happily at having the proper ring back in his possession and no longer having to skip out on lunch to go on a diet. Yunho could only stare at the younger in amazement, and just as he felt his lips turning upwards, he cleared his face of emotions.

“Now if you could please give me back my ring. A close friend of mine made that ring just for me and I’d like to have it back. It’s precious to me.”

Upon hearing the return of that rude tone, Jaejoong removed the ring from his ring finger and gladly gave back the band to Yunho. “Fine have it back. Don’t need say anything more.”

The senior placed the band back on his finger, and Jaejoong could have sworn that he saw admiration in Yunho’s eyes as he stared at the ring.

“Hey Jae. That ring looks really good on Yunho for some reason…A lot different than what it looks like on you.”

He turned to his friend and pouted at the remark. “Thanks Chun. As if I didn’t already know that…” Jaejoong turned his attention back to Yunho and bowed slightly. “Thank you for returning the ring back to me. I didn’t even think that a switch was possibly and just assumed that I must have gained weight.”

“Most people would have noticed that once they tried the ring on. The only time I took mine off was in the washroom so it was the only explanation. You actually thought you gained weight? You really are a pabo!”

W-what? Pabo? I wasn’t the only one!! Chun believed me too…

“It was strange that the ring was actually loose on my right middle finger. Strangely, it fit my left middle finger just fine. Of course, that’s a useless position for a ring,” Yunho said with a smirk plastered back on his face. “Everyone would go absolutely crazy if I had been wearing a ring around on my left ring finger. Plus, it’s weird being paired up with a guy. Especially a junior.”

Anger washed over Jaejoong, his hands clenching onto the material of his pants as he spat back at Yunho, “Same here!!!”

“Well then we are in agreement.” Yunho said in a finite tone, taking a few steps back towards the doorway. “Oh, you’ve had that thing for a while haven’t you?”

Jaejoong nodded dumbfoundedly. “Yeah, I’ve always worn it…”

“It was quite scratched up. I can tell something like that must be precious to you.” Yunho stood in the doorway and shot Jaejoong one last glance. “Well then Kim Jaejoong. See ya,” and he walked out of the classroom and back to the senior floor.

Jaejoong sat himself back down in his chair with a loud sigh, his mind racing nonstop. Just what was that? How does he always end up getting out whatever he wants to say and just leave? He controls everything! And he was the one who took the wrong ring to begin with so he should have apologized…

“OH MY GOSH!!! Jaejoong, where did you get that ring from?”

“I can’t believe YOU of all people have the same ring as Jung Yunho…”

“You just have to tell me Jae! Pretty please?! Where did you buy it?”

“Me too, me too!”

“Why did I have to be so unlucky. Jaejoong give me your ring! I need to match with Yunho!”

Jaejoong could feel his eyes popping out of his sockets as the female population swarmed around him, bombarding him with questions from every angle. He looked around for his best friend, trying to get help in fending off the group, but instead found the face of Yoochun’s exgirlfriend instead, Bae Seulgi, staring at him with puppy dog eyes.

“Come on Joongie. We’re friends right?” She said with a devious smile on her bright red lips. “Tell me where you got it…”

“I can’t,” he said, very matter of factly.

“Why not?!” All the girls chorused at the same time.

“Don’t be selfish. Just tell us where you got it from!”

“How can you be so mean to a girl!”

“You just want it all to yourself, don’t you?!”

Jaejoong took a deep breath and tried his best not to lose his temper around girls. His mother would kill him. “Look, I just don’t remember what store I got it from. Besides, I don’t want MORE people having the same ring as I do…”

But the chatter, squeals, and whines of the girls didn’t stop. After sitting there rubbing his temples for the past two minutes, trying to keep his cool, Jaejoong just lost it.

“I SAID I DON’T KNOW!!!”

The room hushed down and Jaejoong could feel the daggers penetrating his back as the girls went back to their seats, whispering probably more gossip and new rumors to spread around the school. He just sighed and plopped his head down onto his desk. What have I gotten into?

A/N: I had intended for this chapter to be a lot longer than this, but I just lost a bit of my steam at the end. Also, I felt bad that I took so much longer to update than I had originally planned. ^^; I’ll try to be better about it for those of you who still want to read.

Again, comments are loved and so is criticism :D Thanks for all of you who read the last chapter and decided to stay on board for this one as well! <3
