Fushigiboshi no ☆ Futagohime is about two twin sisters, princesses of the Sunny Kingdom, who have gained a reputation of being the most unprincess-like princess of the Mysterious Planet, who find themselves given a task that only they can achieve. That is saving their world and healing the Sun's Blessing which keeps everyone and everything alive.
Impression:
Though I have not finished watching the series due to waiting for further episodes to be subbed, I would be happy to recommend this to anyone who likes magical girls with unique personalities and a development that isn't always so predictable. Fushigiboshi no ☆ Futagohime has a charm that makes things avoid being too corny, keeps you entertained and most importantly succeeding in encouraging people to want to watch it till the end. However it really depends on the person him or herself because some times you may find it too long.
What I like about the plot is that it isn't rushing. With fifty-one episodes, that gives this show more than enough time to explain what's happening and fulfilling gaps that we may not understand. Another thing I'm absolutely pleased with is that, unlike most magical girls animes - Reine and Fine don't level up like rockets out of blue. They level up quite slowly and improve by experience, leading them to their own character development, in this case becoming slightly more mature than how they started off in the beginning.
One thing that pleased me the most was that Reine did not remain as kyaing fan girl about boys and Fine being very observant and smart at times. These two sisters were always able to neutralize either other obsessions and distractions. This way the anime does not become boring, or too corny when it comes to crushes and possible relationships.
The negative part about this show is that some of the characters, can act very stupid and dumb. Or rather some of them can be extremely bitchy and you'd get annoyed as hell and want them to shut their mouth already. I am slightly bothered with the fact how the royal families such as in particular the Kings and Queens are so gullible and act immaturely to certain situations.
Do not use the excuse that, "Oh hey it's a kids show!" because first of all it pisses me off the be conscious that the adults can fall so low in behavior that it's almost as close to Reine and Fine's immaturity. What makes me laugh sarcastically about this is that it's Reine and Fine who ends up having to talk the adults out of it, which I find quite ironic in a way.
Overall, I have yet to see how the story wraps up. With the way it's going right now, I expect it to be completed well. I have good expectations for the ending. Also for those who may not know, there is a second season called: Fushigiboshi no ☆ Futagohime Gyu. It has not been translated yet since Honobono FanSub Group is currently in process of completing this season first.
