Welcome to Adventures in Anime!

*stands up* Hi, my name is Jello, and I am addicted to anime. (I'm using my nickname instead of a real name, and, in case you're wondering, there's a long story behind that one.)  Yes, I know this is similar to the introduction, but this is more of a "new readers" guide. :)

Like the name implies, this blog is all about reviewing anime.  That's what I want to do here--talk about anime.  I plan on providing objective reviews that can help others get interested (or re-interested, as the case may be).  After I build up some friends/followers online, I also plan to post some polls and other anime-related posts that aren't just about reviews.

There are just a few statements I want to make before I really get going:
  1. Please note that I have no formal film education.  I am not an expert in any way.  What you'll be reading are my opinions.  I'm going to try to be respectful of the show and its fans (because devoted fans are always something to be admired), but that doesn't mean every show is going to get high marks.  I'd certainly like for everyone to feel welcome here, but if that idea will insult you, please don't read.
  2. Posts will be made Monday through Friday, mid-afternoon in US Central time.  My weekends are my own.  I have a small but close-knit family, and we use weekends to spend time together.  They are my first priority.  I'm not saying that I won't post on weekends, but I'm saying they will be rare... and probably short.
  3. This is an open blog.  I've been looking through to see blogging style on here (as this is my first blog ever), and I've noticed that a lot of blogs are "Friends Only."  I completely understand this.  If I was pouring out my soul online, I would have a "Friends Only" blog, too.  But, fortunately, I'm only discussing anime, so it's open to the public.  I am a very private person and I am conscious about what I let slip online, so the public will only ever learn what I want them to.
  4. Feel free to friend.  If you like what I have to say and want to add me as a friend, don't hesitate or worry you'll not be welcome.  You are.  Additionally, if you want to contact me about absolutely anything, feel free.  I'm not really a social butterfly, so I'll mostly stick to my blog, but I'm not a snob.  I'll get to you as soon as possible.
  5. Comments, suggestions, statements, and questions are all very much welcomed.  I recognize that my opinion isn't the only one out there.  If you have something to say, please feel free to say it, just so long as you are respectful of the show and its fans.  If you have questions, comment or message and I'll answer them to the best of my abilities.  If you have any suggestions for the blog, reviews, polls, or animes to review, please let me know.  Your feedback is necessary for this blog to improve and evolve.  Don't worry about your opinions being rejected, either; this is a blog for open comments, anonymous, friend, or no.  And, please, if you find any proofing errors, let me know.  I'm usually pretty good about that sort of thing, but, every once in a while, one gets through the cracks. :)
  6. No trashing allowed.  That's right:  don't be rude in the comments.  If you don't agree with my opinion and would like to comment otherwise, that's perfectly fine.  There is something out there called "respectful disagreement," which is certainly welcomed here.  But if you're going to be rude, please don't bother.  It's my goal to point out just as many good things as bad about a show, not just the bad.  I won't trash your show or your opinions, so please don't trash mine.
  7. There will be no "mainstream" reviews.  There are quite a few mainstream animes out there that most people are already familiar with, such as Pokemon, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh!, DragonBall Z, and Digimon.  These are common enough already that I feel that if I were to review them, I'd only be wasting your time.  If you ask me to put any of these on my review list, I will say no--in the nicest possible way, of course.  Don't get me wrong--I'm a huge Digimon fan.  It's just that here are billions of animes out there, and I want to show readers new animes, not ones they've seen or could easily find on cable TV.
  8. Ratings will vary.  The animes I will review vary in rating, from TV-Y, all the way up to TV-MA.  I don't always think the ratings are fair, so I'll comment on that, but, either way, please watch at your own risk.
  9. Reviews sidebar.  I have created and am manually managing a sidebar dedicated solely to reviews, so you can just skip right to it.  I'm new to HTML formatting, so if you come across any broken links, please let me know, and I'll fix them as soon as possible.

That said, thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.  Please feel free to leave a comment--any constructive criticism is welcomed with open arms.  I'm new at this, so I'm going to need your help, too. :)  Additionally, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them as a comment on this post.  This blog is open to anonymous posts, so if you visit, please drop a comment.

I hope this will help you start (or continue) your adventures into the world of anime.

Cordially,
Jello aka animeadventures
