Title: My Frozen Heart
Pairing: YooSu
Genre: Angst, Romance, semi-Fluff
Length: Oneshot
Rating: G
Summary: The kingdom was finally accepting Junsu as he is…but will he ever find love like how his brother did (Inspired by Disney’s Frozen, you just have to have at least watched the trailer to get the story…I don’t think this really contains spoilers, since it’s a different point of view and somewhat a different story)?

Don’t let them in.
Don’t let them see.
Be the good man you always have to be.
Conceal.
Don’t Feel.
Don’t let them know.

Junsu repeated this, over and over in his head.
He was happy that the kingdom has started to accept how he was with his powers and that he really meant no harm, but Junsu knew deep down that still, he’ll never be as happy as a person with no powers such as his.
Junsu lifted a hand, and solid ice morphed in front of him.
He concentrated, and felt it form into a crystal heart.
Junsu looked out the window, and saw his brother Jaejoong with the ice harvester, Yunho.
In a few months, their marriage will take place. Jaejoong had first intended to be married to a prince, but that prince showed his true colors when Junsu’s powers were first revealed. The man had wanted the throne, and it was good that Jaejoong held on until things were fixed.
Junsu was happy for his brother, really…it’s just that….with how he is, he will probably never attain the same happiness that Jaejoong could have.
Junsu swirled a finger, and the crystal-like heart was carved with the images of Jaejoong and Yunho.
Junsu sadly smiled. All he could do now was make sure that his brother will be the happiest he can be.
~.~.~.~.~.
A few weeks later, a ball was held in Arendell in order to celebrate the engagement of Jaejoong and Yunho. For sure there would be people who’d comment about how bad their pairing was---that a commoner (an ice harvester at that) was to wed with the royal prince---and that history would repeat itself…the former King married a commoner, and bore a princess with a curse, and it might mean that royal blood can never mix with anything but royal blood. Junsu however, will make sure that none of these criticisms will be heard tonight, and in the future.
After all, it is his duty to do what’s best, and if Jaejoong is happy with Yunho, then he shall protect their bond.
Music filled the halls, and dancing couples occupied the floor.
Their arrival was announced, as they walked to the thrones.
Junsu officially announced the engagement, and everyone was filled with happiness…well, maybe except Junsu himself.
He sat down silently, and watched as people talked and had fun in front of him.
As usual, all he could do is watch.
Junsu sighed, and slipped away from the ball room.
He needs to go out for a moment. He informed the guards and advisers, and told them he’d be back once he’s had some fresh air.
Junsu dressed simpler, and wore his green hood.
Junsu walked around, sparking out some snowflakes here and there.
He moved his hands full of grace, and snow formed into a physique of a man a few inches taller than him.
The man of snow bowed, and silently asked Junsu’s hand for a dance.
He accepted, and they danced to the music from the halls.
They danced for a short while, until the song ended.
It was time to say goodbye to his imaginary love.
The two bowed to each other, and the man of snow slowly disintegrated.
Junsu heard footsteps close in, and turned around to see who it was.
A prince, probably his age, stepped out from the halls and sighed.
The prince felt Junsu’s gaze, and looked towards the disguised king.
“Hey, not one for parties, too?” The prince asked.
“Yes,” Junsu chuckled.
“Prince Yoochun of Aldenheim,” he introduced himself.
“Oh, it’s nice to meet you…you’re from the neighbouring kingdom, I see.”
“Yes…Aldenheim and Arendell have been in good terms. Even during the times when the gates were shut, we kept on trading goods that were needed by both kingdoms…would you know why the gates were closed? Do tell me, I’m not very updated as of late.”
“It’s because of the king…Kim Junsu…he holds great power…a power that can control snow and ice. His parents tried to conceal it from everyone, which is why the gates were closed. It was all revealed during coronation day, however.”
“Fascinating! Oh how I wish I witnessed that…I was at sea during his coronation, it must have been interesting…did you see?”
“Y-yes…but why would you find such phenomenon fascinating? Arendell was covered in deep snow when she was angered…normal people would be scared by it.”
Yoochun laughed.
“You find me bizarre, don’t you? All my relatives think I’m quite peculiar…Well, I’m fond of studying science. With King Junsu’s power, we might even solve some basic problems in the kingdom, you know?”
“We can? How?”
Yoochun seemed excited once he was asked.
“Well, first ice harvesters could gain more profit, and increased profit will mean a plus for the economy of the kingdom. Then during dry summers, fields can stay cool, and there will be less shortages since the land won’t dry out…Oh, and we could easily build bridges in an instant that would make exchange of goods easier…”
Junsu smiled, amused.
“You are very interesting…I’m sure your kingdom is happy to have you as a ruler.”
Yoochun scratched the back of his head.
“T-thanks, but people usually think my ideas are a bit too farfetched…my advisers tell me that science is evil magic…and it’s not! If only they’d listen like you…you seem like a very gentle fellow…”
“Me, gentle?” Junsu giggled. “How odd for you to say…I’m sure you’ll get your thoughts through them…you seem like a very persistent person.”
Yoochun chuckled, and he was called back by one of his companions.
“Well…I hate to end out conversation…I really do feel comfortable around you, but I better get back to the ball room…”
Yoochun turned around, but the person he was talking to was nowhere to be found.
~.~.~.~.~.
Junsu announced the end of the celebration, and everyone left yet without fail bid goodbye to him and congratulating Yunho and Jaejoong.
Junsu however did not meet Prince Yoochun.
Junsu scoffed, probably got scared once he realized that Junsu was the king.
Junsu had expected that much, and retreated to the veranda of the ball room, after dismissing Yunho and Jaejoong.
Junsu extracted snowflakes out of thin air, feeling a little gloomy in the night.
“Amazing,” a man sighed.
Junsu quickly turned, and was greeted by Yoochun’s face.
“I thought you had left…”
“Oh I was going to…but I thought I’d come by to see you.”
“To what, apologize? I was not your companion a while ago as king, I was just a normal person. You didn’t know it was me, so I forgive you.”
“Partly to apologize for my lack of respect…but I didn’t want to leave Arendell without seeing you again.”
Yoochun stepped closer, and examined the snowflakes that Junsu had made.
“They’re beautiful,” he commented.
“Thank you.”
“Actually…I was sent here to present to you a proposal.”
Yoochun handed Junsu a scroll.
“A proposal?”
“It’s from my father…it’s a marriage proposal which offers that you and I be married.”
“…Oh.”
“To be frank, my father planned this in order to make Aldenheim more powerful, in all honesty I’ll give you that. And I was quite against it…I mean I can’t just marry a total stranger who would marry me just for our kingdoms to flourish, and discriminate me at the same time for my ideas…but when you met me, you seemed very comfortable even when I told you my thoughts…and this might sound crazy but…”
“What, don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love?” Junsu frowned.
“With all due respect, I think I may have. And I’m not just saying this because I want you to accept my father’s proposal…I really did feel a connection, but” Yoochun continued even before Junsu could interrupt, “I know it sounds crazy and absurd…so I will leave you today with the proposal in mind. I will come here as much as I can, to woo you for your acceptance…and I won’t force you to accept…the choice is still yours, your highness…I will understand if you would pick any other suitor that probably declared their proposals before and after I did.”
Yoochun pulled a pendant from his pocket.
“Here, I leave you a remembrance of what I told you. If you choose to become my spouse, then that pendant shall be forged into a ring…but if you choose to turn me down, then think of it as a token of gratitude for our friendship.”
Junsu took the necklace from Yoochun’s hand.
Yoochun held Junsu’s hand, and placed a kiss on top of it.
“I shall take my leave, your highness.”
Yoochun bowed.
Junsu held the necklace close, as he watched Yoochun retreat towards the outside of the castle.
Peculiar, indeed…
But Junsu knew that he definitely felt the sudden quickening of the beating of his heart.
He wore the necklace around his neck, looking down at the crystal pendant.
His cheeks became dusted with pink.
Junsu gathered his hands, and blew across them.
Specks of ice and powdery snow flew from his fingertips.
~.~.~.~.~.
Prince Yoochun took one last look at Arendell, before proceeding back to his castle.
As he mounted his carriage, a cool breeze blew on him.
He looked towards Arendell again, and saw tiny white dust floating in front of him.
He cupped his hands, and the dust swirled down to him.
The white dust formed words on his palms.
I await your return.
Yoochun smiled, as the dust compressed and hardened into a pendant.
The pendant looked like a sophisticated snowflake, reminding Yoochun of Junsu.
He whispered, “I will come back no matter how many times I need to thaw your frozen heart.”
Yoochun mounted his carriage, and was pulled away back to Aldenheim.
A/N: This was inspired by Disney’s Frozen! Especially Idina Menzal’s rendition of Let it Go in the movie…I am just amazed by that woman’s voice, seriously. I’m so sorry if I haven’t updated Idols’ Secret yet, but I will soon! I had a competition and a performance last weekend, then 2 school papers I had to finish during the week. Plus I kinda got sick and I’m having allergic reactions. Anyway, I hope you guys liked this winter-themed oneshot! Please do comment ;)
