Today I saw the first crocus. So much for the calendar - it is officially spring.
The weather was fine, and we were both off today, so the Other One and I went out letterboxing. Instead of the usual romp through the metro parks, we did a series called "The Village Tour" which was a walking series showcasing German Village. It took us from Schiller Park through brick-paved streets, past Schmidt's Sausage Haus, and ultimately to the Book Loft, an independent bookstore comprising 32 rooms in a sort of bibliophibian labyrinth. Along the way we stopped into a fudge shop and a glass factory. The glass factory was especially cool. I now want to own a house so I can put stained glass in it. It was a leisurely holiday and a beautiful exploration of local history. And it was at this point that I saw my crocus.
Then I bought way too many books and joined
tungol for tea. A good day.
