Happy Gaudete Sunday, all. Rejoice at all times!
I got to do the psalm at church this morning. It was a magnificat! And people complimented me on it! But it caused a crisis of wardrobe, since it's Gaudete Sunday so I always have to wear my ugly pink sweater (being the only pink thing I own). But I put a purple shawl over it and everything was okay.
Came home, made quiche and Pizzelle (with gran marnier and orange zest! They were wonderful), and headed off to Shape Note. YAY CHRISTMAS SHAPE NOTE! And Rachel came too, which was awesome! We got to sing Shepard's Star and Star in the East (two settings of the same text, both of which I love). I called Portugese Hymn, because, yeah. It's a different translation of Adeste Fideles rendering it a bit special (but also awesome). And it was quite cold, and our leader had a cold, and as a result everything was pitched really low. And as a result of that I could hit all the high notes! It felt so good to sing in that range. We were totally rocking it like it was 1845 and it was magnificent.
We stayed afterwards to help stuff envelopes with fliers and information for the Ohio Convention, which we're hosting in March. Y'all should come! It'll be fun! You know what they say: "I would go across the country to sing Shape Note, but I wouldn't go across the street to listen to it." But anyway, it'll be good times.
Even better, I've finally gotten the taste of envelope glue out of my mouth!
So, it has been a good good day. And one of the things that has made it such:
THEY FOUND TWO NEW EPISODES OF DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!
Certainly, something for the fandom to rejoice about! It's part 2 of "The Underwater Menace" and part 3 of "Galaxy 4."
