Hikari Yagami
Hikari Yagami is Tai's younger sister who helped him care for an Agumon when she was a toddler, having a sixth sense. She did not attend summer camp with the others due to her health issues. Regardless, she is gentle but frail and compassionate girl who always puts others before herself. She avoids fighting when possible. She can be serious, especially in drastic situations. Revealed to be "the eighth DigiDestined child", Kari is partnered to Gatomon and obtains the Crest of Light as she joins Tai and the others during their battle with the Dark Masters and Apocalymon. Kari admires Tai and is seen as an equal to T.K. In the sequel, Digimon Adventure 02, Kari has matured into a "smiling, charmingly energetic, and bright girl", but has also become "mischievous" and "playful". She now dons a digital camera as a trademark item instead of her camp whistle. Joining the new DigiDestinated, Kari obtained the Digi-egg of Light.
Jou Kido
Joe is the bearer of the Crest of Reliability (Faithfulness/Sincerity/Integrity in Japan). He is very dependable and thoughtful. In spite of his constant worrying (to the point of him being a nervous wreck) and his tendency to feel "allergic" to everything around him. Joe has a strong sense of responsibility. In many instances, he takes it upon himself to be the voice of reason within the group and tries, often without success, to steer the other DigiDestined away from reckless action. He is often perceived as being a "stick in the mud" and his "safety first" attitude is often the source of teasing from other characters, especially Gomamon, his Digimon partner who feels he should lighten up and look on the bright side of things. Joe is certainly extremely intelligent and although Izzy is deemed as the smartest of the group Joe does appear to have a much more practical knowledge base than Izzy demonstrated by his abilities to administer basic medical treatment and in the third episode of the series use his knowledge of astronomy to try and determine where the group is. However, his sense of responsibility sometimes leads him into selfless and brave actions.
Koushiro Izumi
Koushirou is a computer expert and spends most of his free time researching on his laptop. He is very curious and is always making theories and trying to understand the world around him. He starts out as a very introverted person, who isn't very in touch with other people and doesn't really understand their feelings. Being logical and thoughtful, he doesn't appreciate impulsiveness and gets angry when people around him act before thinking. He is the partner of Tentomon and the bearer of the Crest of Knowledge. Izzy’s skills with the computer, however, soon prove to be extraordinarily useful for the group.
Alternative StampMimi Tachikawa
Mimi Tachikawa is kind and caring, although initially slightly selfish. She is very blunt and outspoken, especially in the beginning of the series, and despite her complaining as well as self-centeredness, she bares the Crest of Sincerity (Purity in Japan). Despite being horribly out of touch with reality at points, Mimi is arguably one of the most realistic and feeling characters of the first season. Mimi was the more effected of the DigiDestined to the point of refusing to fight out of seeing their Digimon friends getting killed because of them. However, she ultimately realizes that she has to fight in order to save the Digital World and plays a vital role in the defeat of Piedmon with the army of Digimon friends she gathered. Her closest friend in the group appears to be Sora Takenouchi, who seems to be the first one to comfort her in most situations that scare her, and is the main reason that she came to her senses at one point where she manages to influence a group of Gekomon to treat her as a princess and then throws both Tai and Joe in the dungeon when they try to make her stop.
Sora Takenouchi
Sora is a very reliable person and tries to take care of the other kids, like a mother would. Because of her father's work at Kyoto, she usually lives only with her mother, who owns a flower shop. Sora is partnered with Piyomon and is the bearer of the Crest of Love. Sora was very tomboyish, being the only girl in the school's soccer team, where she was the teammate of Yagami Taichi and Izumi Koushiro. A caring person, she was very protective of the group, and acted as a motherly figure. She often acted as a voice of reason to the others, especially during Taichi and Ishida Yamato's arguments.
Taichi Yagami
Taichi Yagami is adventurous, athletic, charismatic and the main protagonist, which easily makes him the leader of the DigiDestined. However, his aggressive, impulsive personality often puts him in danger. He eventually learns empathy and compassion are key to success instead of reckless courage. Tai obtained the Crest of Courage during the group's initial confrontation with Etemon. Tai is a very caring and considerate person, even if his actions may cause some people to think otherwise. Unfortunately, this caring personality is often hidden by his rash actions brought upon by that desire to help people. It takes time for him to learn how to be a leader, but he does blossom as a person to someone who knows what he has to do and will do it. He learns to look farther ahead and also to mellow out a little and not act brashly, which is exemplified by how calmly he takes in situations when mentoring the younger DigiDestined. In the sequel, Digimon Adventure 02, Tai matured; he became more patient, helping the new Digidestined whatever time allows him.
Takeru Takaishi
Takeru "T.K." Takaishi, known simply as Takeru Takaishi in Japan, is the youngest DigiDestined out of the core seven. He is gentle, sweet-natured, and generous. He is also obedient and follows the DigiDestined's lead without complaints. He is also described as Kari Kamiya's "equal." He is younger brother of Matt, but lives with his mother instead due to a divorce between their parents. Although T.K. was too young to remember the events of the divorce clearly, he is still affected by it and does not like to openly talk about it. Despite the distance between T.K. and Matt, he admires Matt greatly and tries to be brave to "impress" him, although he begins to open up to the other DigiDestined as well, particularly Tai.
Yamato Ishida
Matt, one of the original DigiDestined, starts out as a secretive loner whose Digimon partner is Gabumon. His younger brother, T.K. Takaishi, is also one of the eight DigiDestined. Matt is regarded as "cool" by his peers and seen as a "born rebel" who "prefers to do things his own way." However, he can be passionate and emotional as well. Behind his façade, Matt has an "introspective, sensitive side" that comes through around his younger brother is T.K. Takaishi, whom he is fiercely protective of. Matt served an odd role during the first season. He was the best friend of the group leader Tai Kamiya as well as his rival, which led to a large internal conflict throughout the show which climaxed at the end of the season. Matt is much more protective and concerned about the group as a whole, causing more conflict when compared to Tai's head-first strategy. He is the holder of the Crest of Friendship.
Arashi Nagase
Arashi is a student of Yazagaku with a taste for punk style, piercings, and alternative music. He usually wears safety pins and an assortment of odd piercings. Miwako reassures Yukari that though Arashi looks intimidating, he is very kind. He is Miwako's boyfriend, they have both known each other for a long period of time. Arashi has a real inferiority complex, specially when compared to Hiroyuki or when it comes to studies. He does not like study and thinks that no one can perceive studies as enjoyable. He often skips classes. He is very jealous and possessive to the point when he even prevented Miwako from seeing Hiroyuki as he thought that she loves Hiroyuki much more. In the manga, it was mentionnned that Arashi had violent reactions and even unintentionnally force Miwako the first time so as to make sure to have Miwako for himself but which revealed to make him feel inferior and guilty. During a talk with Hiroyuki, Arashi is very aware that Miwako had feelings for Hiroyuki and is insecure about his own relationship with Miwako, believing he wasn't making her as happy if she were to be with Hiroyuki. Even though Arashi has a generally cynical and abrasive personality, he cares deeply about those around him. When Caroline left her home and decided to give up studies, he was the only one except Hiroyuki who tries to convince her to not make such rush decisions. He even let her live in his apartment and went back to his mother's house when she ran away. When the members of ParaKiss engage in outrageous behavior, Arashi is usually the voice of reason.
Joji "George" Koizumi
George is an eccentric and charismatic student at Yazagaku fashion school who has extraordinary talent with a gift for fashion design, particularly in haute couture. Despite his cold demeanor, he has extravagant ideas on everything, most of which are not accepted by the general public. He feels that Yukari is a tease, and wants her to become an independent woman that takes responsibility for her own mistakes. His appearance is loosely based on Brian Slade of Velvet Goldmine, and several references to the film are made by him in the manga. He has distinctive blue hair and eyes, making Yukari humorously question if he actually is an alien. The lifestyle that he lives is that of a wealthy young bachelor; he lives in a high-end loft and drives a vintage Jaguar. He is the son of a successful businessman, but because his mother was merely a mistress, he rarely sees his father. His mother often complains that despite his ill will towards his father, he looks and acts just like him.
Hiroyuki Tokumori
Yukari's classmate, an intelligent and handsome prodigy who happens to be the object of Yukari's affections at the beginning of the story. Hiroyuki was once in love with Miwako, but Arashi forbade her from seeing him. He gives advice to Arashi on how to come to terms with his feelings for Miwako and his past actions. Soon after the three of them are seen as friends once more just like when they were children. Hiroyuki is at the top of his class and aspires to become a physician. He eventually falls for Yukari, and foolishly assumed that a girl like her would never show interest in him.
Isabella Yamamoto
Isabella is the mother figure to the members of ParaKiss. This tall Yazagaku student is the epitome of high class and femininity. Isabella inspired George's very first dress during childhood, and often had the habit of taking every piece of clothing that he finished. She encourages Yukari when she needs it the most, whether it be regarding George or her abandoned studies. Notably, Isabella is a transgender woman, and she is mortified when anyone refers to her as 'Daisuke', her birth name.
Mikako Kouda
**The description is copied from Gokinjo Monogatari wikipedia page, which is a separate series in which Mikako is a main character.**
Driven by her dream of becoming a fashion designer and having all the stores sell her handiwork under the brand name "Happy Berry", Mikako is at her most conspicuous when she is inspired or in a stormy mood for one reason or another. The former earns her the admiration of her classmates while the latter incenses her teacher Ms. Hamada who thinks nothing of keeping her after school to revise her clumsy handiwork. Mikako has a ferocious rivalry with Mariko who she fears will wield Tsutomu to his detriment along with unrealistic expectations of Tsutomu that leads to a very vivacious and adversarial divergent concourse that often inflames matters on many occasions.
Miwako Sakurada
A pink-haired student of Yazagaku who works with George to run their own brand, Paradise Kiss. She is the younger sister of the Happy Berry brand's creator/president, Mikako Kouda, who is the protagonist in Ai Yazawa's Gokinjo Monogatari work. She is exceptionally sweet and cute. Miwako tends to act in a rather childlike manner, both in her Lolita style dress and unique vocabulary. Because of her endearing personality, she is adored by many of the characters and is becomes Yukari's closest friend.
Yukari Hayasaka
Yukari is a pretty-faced high school senior that studies dutifully for her university entrance exams, but cannot find meaning in her repetitive life and feels that she has not lived at all. Although she starts with a snobbish attitude towards the fashion design students, she eventually becomes the model for Paradise Kiss after being scouted by Arashi, "kidnapped" by Isabella, and whisked away to Paradise Kiss' lounge-like "atelier". Her intense relationship with George pushes her to mature further, despite the fact that she feels he is manipulative and cold. She is often referred to, inexplicably, as "Caroline" by Miwako. After she meets the ParaKiss crew, she discovers all new depths to her ambitions and personality. She eventually married Hiroyuki after George goes off to Paris. In the Live-Action version, she rejects Hiroyuki and goes to meet George in New York and they get together.
Moeka Kiryuu
Moeka is not a very confident individual; more often than not she doesn't say anything at all to those she's speaking to, instead preferring to send phone messages filled with emoticons, which constrasts with her aloof exterior and startles Okabe at first. She isn't interested in communicating, her very reason for joining the lab was gaining information. She can be very stubborn about finding out details about IBN 5100, even annoying Rintarou at some points. Despite her introduction and behavior at first, when the story takes a serious turn Moeka is revealed as someone who can be rather ruthless and cold-blooded towards people if they stand in the way of her goal. Despite that, Okabe notices her flinching and looking away at certain moments, suggesting that she does have some regret over her actions and isn't quite as heartless as she would like to seem.
Nae Tennouji
A very timid and reserved girl, Nae likes to keep out of Okabe's way, as his Hououin Kyouma persona frightens her. She is good friends with Mayuri and Suzuha though and thinks of them as her older sisters, often exchanging a friendly "Tutturu" with Mayuri, and hanging around with Suzuha when she is working in the CRT TV store. She loves her father very much and often feels like she's imposing on him, even going so far as to learn cookery from Mayuri and Kurisu for his sake.
Rintarou Okabe
Rintorou is a melodramatic, eccentric individual. He is a self-proclaimed mad scientist, who likes to assume the nickname "Kyouma Hououin" and often uses this to introduce himself to others. For the most part, people address him by his actual name or by 'Okarin' (his nickname), much to his chagrin. He also likes to pose as an agent working against a certain "Organization" which he thinks is always after him, as he believes this kind of image gives him a cool and mysterious aura. He usually gives off the impression of being delusional and paranoid, engaging in strange mannerisms such as talking to himself on the phone and engaging in fits of manaical laughter often, this is in fact a facade he wears in order to make life interesting for his dear childhood friend Mayuri. Initially, he is portrayed as being rather arrogant, however, it is later suggested that this is due to Rintorou's eccentricities and social awkwardness. Despite the aforementioned traits, he is actually a kind and caring individual. This is particularly evident towards the end of the anime and the visual novel, where he casts aside his perculiar facade, to save his friends from the seemingly unavoidable fate.
Ruka Urushibara
Second year in Kasensou Private Prepatory Academy. Mayuri's classmate. Has the personality of a polite, well-groomed and justified kind of beautiful girl (though a guy). Uses honorifics specifically with Rintarou. Doesn't push his opinions much upon others, but when he does he's quite bashful and blushes quite a bit. Because he's quite serious by nature, he simply believes what others say. Thanks to that, he thinks all the ridiculous stuff Rintarou talks about is that of reality. Rintarou makes him out to be his student on his own, and is currently in the middle of brainwashing him. A very shy person, he often turns down Mayuri's requests to cosplay.
Suzuha Amane
A girl that really likes riding bicycles, and is quite energetic and intelligent, though a little crude. If you stick around her, she's surprisingly cautious and very helpful. A little too familiar with things, but doesn't dig too deep. She isn't quite comfortable with having other people help her. Her personality drastically changes when it comes to her own interests. She becomes more proactive and has a habit of using strange and difficult vocabulary at times.
Rumiho Akiha / Feiris Nyan Nyan
Second year in Kanaria Private Academy. Feyris is someone who works part-time at a maid cafe called "MayQueen+Nyan2". Mayuri works with her. She's quite child-like. Acts like a childish devil towards men. Also adds embarrassing "meows" to her speech. Has an ability to see into people's hearts just by looking into their eyes (which she calls the "Cheshire Break"). Respects her father a lot, as well as having a father complex. A long time friend of Okabe, she likes to play along with his delusions and comes up with scenarios herself.
Itaru Hashida
First year student in Tokyo Denki University. Pro-active otaku, he supposedly has an obsession with both 2D and 3D girls.. Talks quite a lot, and uses @ch (a spinoff of 2ch) terminology. Plenty of statements he makes could be taken as sexual harassment and is generally known to be a pervert. He and Rintarou have known each other since high school. Usually turns down Rintarou's ridiculous requests as "annoying", but in truth gets them done in proper order. However, he trusts Rintarou as a friend. Has great confidence in his programming and hacking abilities (he doesn't mind being called a Super Hacker, but doesn't like it when people call him Super Haker). He's always in front of the computer.
Kurisu Makise
The female protagonist. 18 years old, skipped a grade and is in university. Also famous in America for writing thesis papers, part of which is covered in the news. Thanks to skipping a grade in America as a girl, she was envied by people around her, and ended up building a strong personality. Kurisu doesn't want to show weakness to others, so she always has a stern expression. However, she is very curious, and when she builds interest she pokes into things. Unlike people of her age, Kurisu has shown a more mature attitude, usually calm and collected even when someone is acting tense in front of her. However, she can also show a much more timid side at times. She has been described as a tsundere by Rintaro Okabe time and again. She has proven to be greatly annoyed by Okabe's paranoiac tendencies, and flustered because of him in certain situations. Though she's hesitant to admit it, she's a frequent user of the text board @Channel, donning the identity "KuriGohan and Kamehameha". Rintarou likes to trick her into admitting this habit, much to her chagrin. When posting on @channel her personality is noticeably different, as she often uses Netspeak or emoticons to communicate and her posts generally much less mature than her usual dialogue.
Mayuri Shiina
She possesses a somewhat childish attitude for someone of her age, and is a bit of an airhead. Mayuri likes to give cute nicknames to familiar people like Rintarou (Okarin) and refers to herself as Mayushii. Despite acting younger than what she looks like, she is also responsible for Rintarou's well-being, usually tending to his needs most of the time. Speaks in a very wavy manner, seems to always be smiling and having fun and is generally quite the optimist. Doesn't like when people argue, and gets upset when things are unpleasant. She's also very attentive to detail, often noticing things about people that others would miss. She is the only one to figure out one of the most important things in the series.
Yuugo Tennouji
He has a great passion for CRT Television and refuses to upgrade to any other type. This coupled with the fact he owns a CRT store has resulted in Okabe nicknaming him "Mr. Braun" after the more common Japanese name for CRT, "Braun Tubes". While appearing as a tough and menacing man and often using this demeanour to jokingly bully Okabe, he actually has a soft spot for the lab members. His daughter Nae is his top priority and he will go to desperate lengths to ensure her safety.
Enjoy.
