I can see quite a few characters possibly working for you, but I can see some adult!Taeko Okajima from Only Yesterday (info); Seita from Grave of the Fireflies (info, some more info there but there are MAJOR SPOILERS); Nausicaä from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (info, Yay! She actually has a detailed wiki! ♥); Sparrowhawk/Ged from Tales from Earthsea (info); and Seiji from Whisper of the Heart (info, more info). I think I'm leaning the most towards a Nausicaä vote though, especially after refreshing my memory of her character thanks to that wiki! XD Personally, I always thought of her as being intelligent and intellectual...and Nausicaä is definitely compassionate, stubborn, places a lot of importance on being fair and firm in her beliefs...as well as someone who is a very capable fighter in her own right when she feels that she has to be! I think your Positive Traits fit Nausicaä really well in particular: "intelligent, compassionate, witty, determined, loyal, creative".
...Actually, how Nausicaä is described right on the Character Outline of her wiki article makes me think she's a really good fit for you when compared to some of the other characters I was initially thinking of: "Although a skillful fighter, Miyazaki's Nausicaä is humane and peace-loving. She has an unusual gift for communicating with the giant insects, and is noted for her empathy toward animals, humans, and other beings. An intelligent girl, Nausicaä frequently explores the toxic wasteland which surrounds the kingdoms, and conducts scientific experiments in an attempt to define the true nature and origins of the toxic world in which she lives."
...Your Dislikes are definitely very fitting for Nausicaä as she too doesn't appreciate guilt-trips or wanton cruelty, and how those who first meet you and those who get to know you would describe you fit for her character too. I honestly see her character a lot in pretty much all of your "Are you more..." section answers, and I could see her wanting to change the same things about herself that you would ("...probably my indecision and my tendency to second-guess myself"). Despite being a skilled fighter, Nausicaä doesn't enjoy conflict...she'd prefer to not start one in the first place as well and would also want to end it as quaickly as possible while getting the best results for everyone involved. Your reasoning for fighting to save the world strikes me as very fitting for her character as well...and Nausicaä would only fight a powerful enemy if they were a threat too. XD
