I finally got a chance to see Creepy KOFY Movietime last night. What an utter piece of shit. Nothing to recommend it at all. The show is hosted by a couple of typical FM morning show douchbags doing frat-boy humor that doesn't relate in any way to sci-fi, horror, or B-movies. Just the usual doses of misogyny, substance abuse, and social bigotry masquerading as comedy. Calling it comedy of any kind goes too far. Howard Stern is a poet compared. This just sounds like a couple drunks giggling in a dorm room.

The guy who calls himself Balrok has some interesting monster makeup and mask work. But he doesn't have a character to go with his costume, so you sit there wondering, what's the point? The other guy may or may not consider himself to be in costume - like his personality, his look is indistinguishable from your average stoner.

Their comments about the movies show an ignorance of everything except a basic awareness of the plot outline, so at least they know which film they are showing. But an appreciation of B-movie history? Or a clever skewering of cheeesy filmmaking? No way. It's just "Dude your mind is gonna be totally blown by this next scene. It's hella-rad!"

The show also has guests who, like the hosts, have no connection tot he world of sci-fi or horror. Girls in bikinis shill for a hip hop clothing company, local comedians do material just like the hosts', etc. The one positive note is the show's band, The Deadlies, who do a surf-garage style that goes well with the movies.

To say they're the worst horror-hosts I've ever seen would be too much of a compliment. They have no idea what horror-hosting is in the first place. What is KOFY thinking???
