This or That
Aggressive/Passive: I'm passive, but an animal who represents safety and happiness to me would be aggressive, or at least very quick to attack when threatened
Secretive/Bold: in between: I'm very frank and open, but I don't really like to draw attention to myself
Focused/Silly: focused, but I do like to play
Friendly/Aloof: aloof with strangers, but friendly and affectionate with my loved ones
Famous/Unknown: a little famous, perhaps
Leader/Follower: leader
Graceful/Clumsy: graceful
Fur/Feathers/Scales: fur or feathers (or compound eyes and a stinger, just to cover all my bases :D)
Large/Medium/Small: I'm average-sized, but, again, I think for my patronus to represent something that makes me feel safe and happy, it'd be large
Quick/Strong: quick...or agile, at least

Harry Potter
Which characters do you relate to the most? I relate most to Harry Potter, Remus Lupin, and Severus Snape. They're kind of the misunderstood ones, to my way of thinking---and although others misunderstand them, what I identify with is their misunderstanding of themselves. They each have a nobility to them, but it takes the whole of the series for each one of them to discover or come to terms with that. That's key to my own self: discovery of my strengths, my courage, and a slow turning away from self-doubt and fear. (I'll add, though, that I love Ginny, Mr. Weasley, and Bill...and that I'd marry George. :D)
What are your greatest fears? Falling (but not heights). Failure. My family or friends dying. Losing control of my mind or my body.
When you were little and scared, what made you feel safe? My dad. He's so tall and strong, with this deep, soothing voice, and he used to be a police officer, so I knew he would always be able to protect me. My younger sister, too, especially when I got a little older. She might not be able to protect me, but I knew if she stood by my side, we could face whatever might threaten us.
Do you have a special place where you feel comfort and peace? Right now it's probably my parents' backyard with the sun shining throught the post oaks. But in the house we used to live in when I was younger, I had several soothing spots---in the branches of our maple tree; at the top of the stairs, warm and cozy in the sunlight coming through the window; in the tiny rock garden behind the garage by the raspberries and where the garden snakes lived under the azaleas. Sunlight is a constant, though. And warmth.
What would be your happiest and most powerful memory? When we still lived in Chicago, and before everyone started moving out of my parents' house, my family would get up at 4am on Christmas morning and drive downtown to look at all the Christmas lights. My dad would warm up the car while us kids pulled on snow boots and heavy jackets over our pajamas, and then we'd pile in, trying not to be too loud and wake the neighbors. We'd bring banana bread and Christmas cookies, and we'd make my parents play Harry Connick, Jr.'s "(It Must've Been Ol') Santa Claus" over and over (even though it drove my dad crazy). And then we'd reach the heart of the city and everyone would go quiet, murmuring awe at the beauty of the lights...shaping reindeer, wrapping tree trunks, limning old architecture, draping giant firs. One year we stopped at the planetarium near Lake Michigan and actually stepped out of the car. The water stretched out into darkness, and though we couldn't see it, we could hear the creak of the ice on its surface as it rode the waves beneath. We'd drive around until about 7am, then head back to the house just as the sky shifted into paler shades of blue. My memories of those Christmas morning trips are brimful of family, laughter, wonder and peace; they taste of spices and sleepiness, and even though the world outside that car was icy, the memories are always warm.

Anything Else?
Some animals that have meant something to me in the course of my life: (Mod, let me know if I need to delete this.) Not that you have to choose from this list, but in case you're stumped and looking for more insight, highlight this: grey wolf, polar bear, honeybees, raven, Mississippi kite, dragon, griffin, dolphin, Border Collie, phoenix, Eurasian blackbird, jaguarundi, narwhal, hedgehog
