On Thursday, June 10, PCRM physicians will lead a peaceful demonstration at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass., to bring attention to their proposed space RADIATION experiments involving LIVE MONKEYS. The planned study would constrain squirrel monkeys in a box barely big enough for them to stand in and expose them to doses of heavy-ion radiation. For the next four years, the monkeys would sit in solitary caging at McLean Hospital, where they would be taken out for cognitive testing, involving drug injections and cruel restraint chairs.
These experiments have not yet begun-which means we still have time to stop this.
Please join us at McLean Hospital on June 10 to let decision-makers at McLean know that their use of live monkeys for radiation experiments is cruel and unacceptable. Here is the information you will need to join us:
Date: Thursday, June 10
Time: 12:00 noon
Location: Public sidewalk across from entrance to McLean Hospital
115 Mill St., Belmont, MA 02478
Parking: Street parking on side streets near McLean Hospital
Signs and leaflets will be provided.
Please forward this message to interested friends and family.
So far, NASA has ignored all calls for the experiments to halt, despite mounting criticism on the grounds that the proposed experiments are cruel, scientifically flawed, and in violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act and NASA's own regulations.
