I need basic-basic LJ for dummies. I do not know how to bookmark or tag and I cannot reliably find the manga_clubhouse page. not helped that I am just not happy in other areas of my life, I suspect...living with extended family is much more difficult than I had really assumed it would be, and I was previously aware that this would not be easy.

On this navigation strip, under your username, you should see several links: Home, Post and Friends Page. The Home link will take you to the Livejournal homepage where, if you are logged in, you can access your messages and see what's going on with your journal (recent comments, if Friends are having birthdays, who has recently added you as a Friend, etc.). On this page you will also see a link to "Post an Entry." This will post an entry to your own Journal. This is the same function that will be performed if you select "Post" from that top grey (or in the case of the LJ homepage, dark blue) navigation strip. The Friends Page link(s) will take you to your Friends Page, where you can read entries of all the people you are LJ friends with and all the community entries of Communities you are Watching or have Joined.
Additionally, when you are logged in and you are looking at your own profile page you will see some options, one of which is to Post an Entry there as well.
Being logged in will give you immediate access to making posts, not just on your own journal, but on any community you happen to be browsing at that time, too. For example, if you go to the manga_clubhouse page, on the top navigation strip I just described, you should see a series of additional community links adjascent to the ones about yourself. It'll say something like, "You are a member of this community," or "You are Watching this community" and it will give you some options, like whether you'd like to Join, Watch, Leave, or most importantly for your purposes, "Post to this community." You can also do this from the community's profile page, in much the same way as I described for your own profile page above. For example, our community's profile page is here.
Are you with me so far? Next I will get into the actual posting of an entry...
