YOU GUYS I LEGIT THINK MY CAR IS ON A LONG-CON QUEST TO KILL ME a la CHRISTINE.

This time, instead of my accelerator NOT WORKING suddenly, it WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND STAYED THERE!

god I can't even begin to imagine how I'd react if I actually got into a wreck, or got hurt. I consider myself a safe driver but jesus sometimes that shit is just out of your control.

Thanks for the hugs, I tried calling my family but no one's returning and I kind of needed to vent. THE INTERNET SOOTHES ALL WOUNDS.

yeah idk anything about cars either, but I think it's b/c when you're in drive or reverse, the engine is like hooked up to the gear box, so the work the engine is doing actually translates into moving the car, so the noises/side effects are less scary because it's actually doing work. When you're in neutral, the engine is just spinning itself so if you're flooring the accelerator, making the engine revolve like 4000 times a minute to do nothing, well, it's going to blow up eventually lol ( ... )

I think u can turn it off in neutral. It can be in neutral and off, I know, because that's how you like, roll a car that's out of gas places.
