I finished up a couple things of art today. well, almost.
I added the last "stack" in a collage I'd started a few days ago. After gluing two stacks worth of small rectangles in place, I'd reached my limit, and set the little chips of paper I had ready for the last stack aside. Today I finally got around to finishing it, but I am missing one little chip, so the last stack (the one on the far left) is shorter than the others. I'm not decided yet about whether I should add some drawn details, or just keep it as is. So maybe it's finished and maybe not.
I also finished up the second butterfly after making the first one a couple days ago. I have really enjoyed painting in this manner. The initial drawing drives me a little nuts because I'm constantly correcting the lines I've drawn, and usually when it's finished and painted I'm still critical of the basic shape, but it's good practice, and I really enjoy the painting part of the process.
I'm planning to add some details, like the veins in the wings, and maybe the antennae, although I'm not 100% sure about the antennae since I'm drawing from dead butterflies that don't have them. But my brother thinks they look bald without them, and that comment has stuck with me. A bald butterfly just sounds kind of sad.
But overall the butterflies make me really happy, and I can't stop staring at the paper. I think I'm definitely going to frame the painting once I finally finish it.
