calendar and butterfly

I've been majorly procrastinating on a project that I should be working on. It's something that I'll actually get paid for if I can get my act together, so why am I dragging my feet. I think it comes down to not being sure where to start. Yet again. I know that when I get into it, I'll be very interested by it and it won't be that hard, but so far I haven't gotten over that initial hurdle.

In the meantime, for better or worse, I made some more sketches for my calendar, and also added some color to some of the sketches.

Long story short, I don't like the color so i'm going to stick with simple black and white drawings with added line texture.

I have a few more designs to decide on before I can start making the final calendar, but it's well on it's way.

I've have a few butterflies hanging on my wall, and after I got my new watercolors, I was inspired to paint them. They seemed like the perfect subject to see what my new colors could do.

I did the sketch in pencil first and then colored it in with watercolor.

I'm pretty happy with the result. There are some things I'd do a little differently next time, but overall it was a fun and different practice for me.
