Our beach trip is almost over. Only one more full day and then I'll be on the road back to Maryland. I would love to stay another week, but I'll be glad to see my little Otto and Kasi.
All in all it was the perfect beach day with gorgeous sunny clear weather that made the water look very pretty and green, plenty of wind for kite flying, lovely waves that weren't too rough, but rough enough to have fun in, and oh yeah, I missed about 2.5 hours of it while I was taking a nap in my little hidey hole of a room (I'm in the "bonus" room in the basement. It has tiled floors, wood paneling and all the old furniture they didn't want upstairs in the good part any more. The trials and tribulations of being a single girl in a family of families...). The nap was well needed and I made up for it with my super epic stone collecting walk that had me hobbling by the time I returned.
I've been collecting stones and pebbles from the beach. I'm sure I'll be posting photos of them soon. I'm a little obsessed, truth be told. Today I walked faaaaarrrr down the beach and by the time I got back I was hobbling from bending over so many times to pick up stones. Plus I had a big heavy bucket of rocks, which seemed like a funny thing to be carrying.
When I FINALLY made it back to the house, I just had to take a dip in the ocean to loosen up my aching muscles. Then I took a quick shower and made it upstairs to the main living area just in time for awesome fish tacos, homemade by my brother.
I took a couple of photos on my new iPhone that my other brother gave me since he upgraded to the iPhone 4. Did I already mention that? Anyway, here are the photos, edited with the Camera Bag App.
Shrimp that my brother caught with the cast net. I'm so dazzled by the fact that he actually caught these in the surf in front of our house!
my mom finally figured out why the kids couldn't get the kite up flying in the air. It's because they wanted them close to the ground, like just above their heads, and not way up in the sky. She got them going, then we tied them to the beach chairs. This one was really high.
I'm pretty happy with how the iphone-photoing is going so far. It might well make
my other flickr account not so obsolete.
Tired, and sore, but happy; I'm going to call it a day.
