Dishes and Cake

The dishes are still in the sink. By now they have multiplied and are also stacked around the sink's perimeter: a sparkling necklace of diamond glasses and pearl porcelain bowls.

I had some help with the first round of dishes; There were offers of hand washing the rest, but I assured everyone that I'd do a second load in the dishwasher. I will too. I just haven't yet.

After the party I stayed up late. I think I read a book, but maybe I was just blankly stared at the internet.

The next day I started making Spinach Artichoke dip at 10am. It took a lot longer than I expected, and afterward I had to shower and pick an outfit. I spent 10 whole minutes examining and trying on jewelry options, finally settling on the gingko leaf earrings I'd eyed at minute one. I left the house just in time to be a wee bit early for my nephew's reptile party.

The reptiles were so cool! I got to hold a big black lizard like a baby. I even rocked him a little bit, also like a baby, which seemed rather ridiculous after half a second.

I stayed on for the grown-ups party which was held as a meet up so we could see our friend Justin who was back in town for a few days. The spinach dip was a hit, and I met a couple of cool new-old friends. I'd met them before over the years but never really talked to them til last night.

Today I was relatively tired in the morning, but I big plans. Those included cleaning up the kitchen and doing that second (and maybe third) load of dishes. I decided to watch Pride and Prejudice with the director commentary instead, eat left over cake, and then go to the art store for big paper. When I got home I had more cake and fell asleep on the couch which brings me to now. Cake isn't exactly the most nutritious of meals, especially if that's all that's eaten in a day.

When I woke up from my nap, I decided then and there to do the dishes. Dishes! Yay! It will be so nice to have a clean kitchen! Yay!

Instead I sat down at the computer and started writing not one but two lj entries.

I will do the dishes next. I promise to myself that I will. After all I've run out of spoons and glasses.

For dinner I really should eat a salad and not that last piece of cake.
