Ordinary Day

Jul 28, 2009 18:45

Today I pitted about 15 pounds of cherries. I was surprised by how long it took and by how tiring it was. Now we have lots of cherries in the freezer though, so it's a nice sense of accomplishment.

After the cherries I took a load of stuff to the dump. Satisfying as always.

It was pretty hot here today; almost 90, but we kept the a/c off all day. I guess after 2.5 months on a tropical island, Maryland heat is no sweat for me to take, literally.

After the dump I came home and made stuffed cabbage for the first time in my life. It turned out pretty well, although there are maybe one or two things I'd try differently when I make them again. Overall they were very satisfying to roll up, cook and eat. The cabbage leaves were durable and didn't break apart during the rolling and didn't fall apart after.

Before dinner, I took the dogs for a walk with my neighbor Susie while my mom was getting a massage. It was still so hot at 8pm that I was dripping sweat by the time I got home. Overall the heat didn't bug me today even though it was 90 degrees and we didn't turn on the a/c. I guess 2.5 months on a tropical island built up my resistance.

That's about it for today.
