I don't usually ask questions of my 3 or so readers, but today I'm going to ask you a question, and I would be happy if you'd answer it.
I read a post on one of the design/artsy blogs I follow. It's a guy who draws something every day. Yesterday he drew and then wrote about something that he hates--the broken lock on his front gate where he lives. He wrote about the quirky lock with fury and hateful passion. Then he asked his readers, "what do you hate about where you live?"
Knowing how powerful our thoughts and words can be, I must admit that I was more than a little shocked and taken aback by this, so I wanted to counter that and write something positive.
I haven't done a drawing of something I love about where I live, but I for one love my front gate. There's no lock. It's easy to open and easy to close. I love my mailbox--they are new and look quite lovely and sophisticated affixed to our fence by the gate. I even love our quirky doorbell that goes off at unexpected times without anyone pushing them. I get up and go downstairs when it goes off because you never know, and I'd say 90% of the time it's a false alarm. Yesterday it went off about 7 times (not the norm, sometimes it goes days without ringing) and each time that I got up and trotted downstairs to see no one, I just chuckled a bit to myself. I figure it doesn't do me any harm to get up and run up and down the stairs a few times in a day. I also love my room; that it's simply decorated, but welcoming and cozy. I love the colors of the walls throughout the house, and I love that my place has character.
So What do you LOVE about where you live?
love,
