Poppyseed Lemon
I didn't work on my art project today. There were guys doing work in the basement. Installing new pipes and such, so I thought I'd leave them alone and stay upstairs. I made Poppyseed Lemon Cookies instead. They turned out yummy. I put the Poppyseed before the Lemon in the name because I used 1/2 cup of poppyseeds instead of the 2 tablespoons that the recipe called for. Ha. I've always been a believer that more is better, and in this case, I was right.
I also made a double batch, and it made so so so many cookies. I was baking all afternoon. I made some lemon icing (not part of the recipe, but one of my specialties) which I drizzled on some of the cookies, and then sprinkled some more poppyseeds on top, and for the others, I dipped them half way in chocolate.
I ate way too many cookies today. Plus we had lemon chicken for dinner, and I also made lemonade because I'd squeezed much more lemon juice than I needed for the cookie dough. Now I'm all lemoned out. My mouth even kind of hurts from all the sour I tasted today.
Since the guys were working on the pipes, I couldn't do any dishes as I cooked, which I try to do so that the kitchen doesn't become such a wreck. So at 10pm, I had the wreck in the kitchen to contend with and it took me an entire hour before it was mostly clean. The kitchen's not spic and span, but it's tidy and the dishes are all done.
