Dammit.

Right, so.

a) I wanted a coalition. I think a coalition would force people to play nice and work together for the greater good. It's perfectly kosher under our constitution: anyone getting their knickers in a twist about it needs to take Grade 10 Canadian History over again -- or at least read mzrowan's easy-to-grok explanation of it here. (Thanks!)

b) Harper KNEW this would happen. He had to have. "Hi, we're just going to slash the funding for every party -- well, ours won't be cut very much, but the rest of you? Neener neener!" I smell a rat. In a suit. Let's not even get into the Tories' illegal taping of the closed-door meetings of other parties!

c) And now the gov't has been prorogued until January. Are you KIDDING? What kind of bullshit spin did he put on things in order to get that past the GG? SHENANIGANS, I say!

This is ridiculous. I truly hope that the opposition parties get their shit together in the time they've been given and, come January, give the Tories the thorough drubbing they deserve. Assuming the the pro-coalition rally's still on for this Saturday, who wants to go? (Noon, Nathan Phillips Square.)

ETA: There's a great piece by Andrew Cash in today's NOW, plus a lot of other (pro-coalition) coverage, including a poll asking what people think of the prorogue.

stephen harper sucks, o canada, political rant
