As the man himself said, our destiny is shared.

"And where we are met with cynicism and doubt and fear and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of the American people in three simple words -- yes, we can."

Alleluia, alleluia.

It's a tough job at the best of times, which this certainly is not, and it's clear that there are people who (to put it mildly) aren't likely to help Obama, despite his hope of cooperation. But many, many more -- in America and the world over, because as America goes so do we -- believe in him and want him to succeed. It's unfair to expect perfection, sure, but we are optimistic enough to hope for it anyway, and would love to be able to, in four years' time (and hopefully eight), feel the same giddy joy about his presidency as we do right now.

To feel like this.

And this.

And this.

And this.

Because for many of us, Obama rings true. We played this video while waiting for him to appear on stage, and as he and his lovely family walked forward to begin that next great chapter, my heart (to say nothing of my eyes ;) was full.

Finally, finally, it feels like we're moving forward again, and in the right direction at last.

To my dear American friends: Yes, yes, yes, you can. Happily, it's a sentiment without borders -- we all can. Be the change you seek.

Congratulations, America, and g-d bless everyone -- Obama, America, the world.
