Yay, sounds exciting!

I think some artists sketch in pencil, scan the sketch, and work with the tablet from there to create finished lines. Might be something to consider. I'm sure you could also find tablet tutorials on Deviantart.

I assume you know to scan the art at a really high resolution for future printing. :) And don't scan them as JPGs, JPGs compress the file and make it lower quality!

Looks like TIFF files are the standard for working with images.
