Having a week off means more time for knitting.
First up,
a lace pattern scarf for Kathryn. It's her Xmas present, just not part of the deadline projects, since I never see her to exchange gifts until after the new year.
The second project was definitely more difficult.
About a week before Christmas, as I sat at my desk frantically turning out slippers, Lisa turned to me and asked if I could make baby booties.
"Um, yes?" I responded.
"Do you think you could make
these?" She says turning her computer and showing me the link.
YIKES! Those are crocheted! Um, no.
Well, maybe. After all, I was considering turning a crochet pattern into knit for one of the bootie ideas for Margaret.
And seriously, I have a week with nothing to do. This could be a challenge. "I can try!" I said brightly.
"Good," she says. "I'd rather pay you that some stranger $40."
A few minutes later she also sent me
this link, as a secondary concept.
(BTW, Etsy.com? Never heard of it until Margaret sent me
those logs at the beginning of December. Since then, I think I hear someone refer to it once a week, usually to ask why I'm not selling stuff on it.)
So here's what I've come up with:
Since I had no pattern to work from, and I can't crochet that well, I sort of made it up as I went along. The booties are a variation on the slipper pattern. The rest is crochet trim. The blades are crocheted and then sewn on.
I hope she likes them. if not, I'll probably cut the blades off and store them for Margaret. I think she'd dig them.
