An elk was whistling and squeaking outside and little Suzy Q cat was running around the house big mad. She was hissing and growling, wanting to fight this thing. I held Suzy and took her outside on the front porch to show her the elk, which was right across the driveway.
Suzy Q is a 7 pound cat. A bull elk is the size of a horse. She shut up after that.
This same bull elk has been around for a couple of weeks. His antlers are lopsided. One side is only half the size of the other. This would make him pretty useless as a trophy. It probably does not appeal to lady elk either, which may be why he is wandering around alone in the east pasture. This would not bother me quite so much except that the elk noises offend the rooster and they do this elk whistle/rooster crow duel at 4 AM in the morning.
For the first time in forever we did not do an overnight trip for our anniversary. I was wrapping up the old job and starting the new job the same week, and I really did not want to mess up either. It was late nights all week including last night(Saturday) and I am finally able to take a breather today. Instead we will be doing a night out on the town once the extra paycheck comes in. I am cashing in the unused sick days from the old position. After 3 months of work stress I feel like falling over and sleeping all day. To celebrate I bought a box of doughnuts yesterday and have already inhaled 3. There is a reason why I never buy doughnuts.
No work work today, but I need to pay some bills and take Suzy Q for a walk outside in the sun. Rocky cat is doing a real life "whack a mole" game out in the pasture and we should go cheer him on.
