I sincerely apologize for the statement I'm about to make. I just became addicted to Making the Band 3 starring Diddy. Unfortunately when I saw that the Season Finale was going to premiere on Thursday, Decemeber 8th at 10 p.m., I got goosepimples. I'm going to have a little day of beauty today including but not limited to getting my haircut at the Supercuts in Riverside and also getting my eyebrows waxed at Happy Feet nails and tan. I really want to be able to get them threaded but I can't afford it and I don't think I can handle the pain today.
I have to make a powerpoint presentation about a little disease called Listeriosis

Listeriosis
Listeriosis is a food-borne infection that causes about 2,500 people in the United States to become ill each year, and results in about 500 deaths. It is caused by food contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, a rod, coccobacilli shaped bacteria that can be arranged in chains or as single cells. The bacterium is motile at 20°-25°C, and is catalase positive. It is a psychrophile; therefore, it is neither killed nor does it grow slowly at cold temperatures. Listeria monocytogenes has been isolated from several sources including: ground beef, chicken and turkey, lunch meats, hot dogs, cheese, and poorly pasteurized milk.
The disease usually affects pregnant women, newborns, and the immunocompromised. Babies can be born with the disease if the mother eats contaminated food during pregnancy. In the immunocompromised, fetuses, and neonates Listeria moncytogenes can affect the brain and meninges, resulting in septicemia. There is about a 20% death rate due to the high virulence of the bacteria. Pregnant women may only experiences mild flu-like illness, but the bacteria can cross the placenta, or postnatally infect the baby through the birth canal. When pregnant women are infected with Listeria monocytogenes intrauterinally it results in a widely systemic infection, and usually causes premature abortion and fetal death. Most normal adults experience mild/subclincal infections with symptoms such as:
• Fever
• Muscle aches
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Sore Throat
Microbiology is so interesting.
