SO it appears David will be leaving for Iraq for 3 months. I know some people will bitch and say "It is only 3 months, why worry?" And some will complain that their loved ones are over in Iraq for longer, but you know what? I do nto care....no one should be over there....no one.

I do not want him to go...

I am so mad at him....I mean I am proud of him because he was offered the job....but mad he is going. He says he probably won't make it back...

I am so upset about this whole thing that I am having trouble eating and doing much of anything....

He is glad that I am making such a huge deal about it....it means that I really do love him.

I agree and that is why he wants to go.....to try to show what is really going on...so the people will rise up and get the troops home.

Ack, I agree. The time spent is irrelevant. Just going over is enough to worry about. Although, having been an army brat for nearly all of my life, I've got a bit of insight on the matter.

The amount of danger he'd be in depends on his MOS (Military Occupational Specialty; His job) in the Army/Whichever armed force he has enlisted in. In any case, I'm taking it this is his first time? There's always some nerves the first time, so him saying he probably won't come back is most likely due to that.

My point is that most injuries or casualties that happen over there are mostly accidents, flukes of our own. I'm not saying we don't get attacked, but we tend to fair well (and most of the time, better) in that situation. So as long as he's not with a troop of idiots, he should be fine.

My dad's been over.. three times? I think three. Anyways, he's going back over in about a month.

For what it's worth, you have my prayers and apologies.

He is going as a photo journalist. He was offered a job with the AP ((Associated Press)).

I'm sorry to hear that Jenn. I know you should be happy that he got offered the job, but he's risking his life by taking this job and since you love him. You're going to be worried the whole time. Just remind him not to do anything stupid or get stuck with a bunch of idiots, which is basically the complete military over in Iraq since George Bush, Jr. is the overall Commander of the US. -_-;;
