2009 In A Nutshell

Dec 19, 2009 17:12

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Lots of things, I'm sure. The big one? Got myself signed up for Ireland 2010.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I think so, but I tend to lose track of them. Typically, my resolutions are silly things, like wear something red every day, because I don't mind telling myself to improve in the middle of the year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Mostly family members.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great aunt Ruth. All the cats; I think they count.

5. What countries did you visit?
Nothing yet!

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More Adventure (and that's pretty much a guarantee)

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No one real date, but I'd probably go with the day I actually started riding my bike.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Learning how to ride my bike, and starting to get healthier... all the while coming out of the hole I was in from the past year. Finding myself, and realizing that I can do anything I want. I just have to know it, first.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being around my friends enough, especially the 2nd half of this year. I've gone anti-social, and it's getting really hard to break back out of that and see people again.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not much! As a matter of fact, I dodged swine flu, and the worst sickness I had was a cold back in spring.

11. What were the best things you bought?
My spot on the Ireland 2010 trip, my bike.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone in their own way did something worth celebrating.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My family's reaction to my apartment. *I* love it, and that's what matters.

14. Where did most of your money go?
My teeth, my bike, Ireland 2010

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Umm... IRELAND! And finally getting to see Avatar!

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
The one I'm listening to now.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Much improved in the happiness area
ii. thinner or fatter? I'd say thinner, yay gym and biking it!
iii. richer or poorer? stable, money-wise

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
saving money

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
partying

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
with the fam in Pennsyltucky!

21. How will you be spending New Year's?
Going out somewhere... potentially a party in the city!

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Not in the romantic sense

23. How many one-night stands?
heheh.....

24. What was your favorite TV program?
STORM CHASERS!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
My tolerance for people walking all over me has practically disappeared. So, while I don't hate anyone, I no longer take anyone's shit.

26. What was the best book you read?
Twilight novels. Sorry, kids.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Explosions In The Sky

28. What did you want and get?
My sanity and life-stability back. My independence of self.

29. What did you want and not get?
The perfect man, standing naked on my doorstep.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
AVATAR!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went to Jeremiah's and belted out a few tunes with some of my closest peeps! The big 2-7.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Better health benefits so I wouldn't have had to spend half my Ireland savings on a bunch of cavities.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Rockstar comfort.

34. What kept you sane?
Balancing my days between work, the gym, and a good night's sleep. Also, the hope of moving at the end of next year.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Meh

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Meh

37. Who did you miss?
My dad. My friends that aren't close by.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I'd go with Cassie. She's crazy cool!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
No matter how sad or lost you feel you are, take a moment to think about it. Sleep on it. Figure out what you can do to fix it, or change it. Life isn't always sad, and the dark times make the better times just that much more amazing.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Tell me, will I dream? Tell me, will it be serene? Tell me, will I stay with my feet in exactly the same place?"
