Well i just finished listening to Beethoven's violin concerto in D major and writing an essay comparing the poetic works of Emily Dickinson to those of Walt Whitman. I personally believe that their very different lives had a profound effect on the poetry affect not only their style but also the subject matter. true. very true. I'm impressed on your insights into the poem. I don't know, I always found emily dickenson too morose, though her lack of sex appeal is charming. She had a sort of stark view that I have to love some of her work. trust me, most girls find any guy that takes the time to read attractive, let alone have any views on it. I guess that in the poem, she is trying to establish that she believes in both, not really expecting anyone to think that she has to choose between them. Or maybe hoping they weren't smart enough to figure it out. Maybe to her, the brain is god. that they're one in the same. Or something like that.
