Part the First: Christmas
or
"This is all bullshit, here."

The trip to the Soo fro christmas went quite well. Better than I had expected, actually. Friday, when I was waiting fro Krista and Mike to pick me up, I was IMing with Sally, and mentioned that I had a ride up to the Soo, but was going to have to take the bus back down on Christmas day, because I still wasn't sure if my truck would make it, and didn't want to break down on Christmas, and be really stuck. She busted out a miracle, and told me that her mom was going to Lansing Christmas day, and I could get a ride down with her, and she could pick me up there and give me a ride home. A much better arrangement than spending 8 hours on the bus.

Krista and mike picked me up, we got some dinner, and headed north. The trip was pretty good, even though the rental car seemed to be built out of plastic and Styrofoam, and had an unsettling habit of getting blow around by the wind. I had a pretty good time chatting with them, and swapping stories, and I only endangered all our lives once by telling a funny story while Krista was driving, and making her laugh too hard to steer.

We got in pretty late, said goodbye, and I went to bed. The next morning I had breakfast with Mom at Frank's Place, got back home to get a message from Smit to join him and Jane for lunch at Frank's Place, and went back.

Lunch was good, Jane brought her niece Madison with her, and at one point I made some silly comment, and Maddy gave me the exact same look I get from Jane when I say something silly. It was eerie.

After lunch, Smit gave me a ride out to my truck, but the battery was dead. We went shopping for Christmas presents, and I got Jane some stuff for the gift exchange at Jen & Ernie's that night. We went back to Smit's, and wrapped presents and hung out. It was great to spend some time with Smit again.

We picked up Jane, and went to the party. Most of the usual gang was their, there was much food and even more drink. Later that evening, everybody else went to the bars, but I was tired, and went home to bed.

The next day, I went to breakfast at Franks Place again, came home, goofed around a bit, got a call from Jason, and went to lunch with him, (Frank's Place). we went out to the truck, but in a new battery, and then found out it was out of gas, too.

That night, Me & Mom went the Christmas Eve party at Laura's, and i had a pretty good time there. I got to shoot the shit with my Uncle Bill for quite a while. And one point, Laura told John's son Troy to show me & Bill his X-Box 360. We went down to the basement, and watched him play a World War II shooter. Uncle Billy watched for a few minutes, then said ""This is all bullshit, here. You'd never run into a building like that, you'd fall back and wait for an air strike." He went on to point out that the tanks in the game were never in North Africa, that firing a machine gun for that long would melt the barrel, that the guy must have two or three people running behind him carrying all the ammo he was using, etc. So, yeah, the guy who was in WWII wasn't all that impressed with the game.

The next day, Sally's mom picked me up, and we drove south. We had really good talks, and it was a fun trip. Sally picked me up in Lansing, and drove me home. All in all, a very good time.
