Just a little quote from Mencken to sum up the way I fell about America right now:

"The United States, alone among the great nations of the earth, past or present, have come to full growth without developing a native aristocracy, either political or intellectual, of any permanent position of influence, and that, in consequence, the banal ideas and cautious, stupid habits of mind the great masses of inferior men prevail among us as nowhere else on earth and attain to a dignity and a power that far surpasses their intrinsic worth, and that, in secondary consequence, almost insuperable obstacles are put in the way of that disdainful reaction against them which lies in the heart of all sound art, of all sound philosophy and of all sound progress, here as elsewhere, world without end, amen."

Also, I wrote this when I was whomping around the Amazon Rainforest and it still holds true:

"The Patriot

I am a patriot,
My loyalty lies in the Sierra Mountains,
The Great Plains are my public policy,
Denali is my president,
Mojave my political party,
Springer Mountain is my house,
Katahdin my senate,
Yosemite is my secretary of state,
Yellowstone my department of defense,
I am a citizen of America,
Not the united states."

Ugh, why was the youth voter turn out so low?
And what happened to one nation, INDIVISIBLE?
