Teddy  normally disappeared in the night, his dark skin, dark hair, and dark deep eyes making him mingle and intertwine with the darkening light. Nights together had Vincent watching his best friend merge into the surrounding black and the only comfort he could gather that Teddy was there was the definition of his body under the sheet. It was always why he prefered the light colors of it for his best friend when they slept the night together.

He breathes out and he can imagine in his mind Teddy in front of him and breathing in his breath. It makes him shiver and yearn for the breath Teddy is willing to share with him.

It was just so that night, Teddy otherwise invisible if not for the pale green blanket draped over him. He was a warm presence next to Vincent in the cold night. A comforting heat that traveled from Vincent's chest, the closest part of him to Teddy, to down his toes and back up to his fingers and his face.

Vincent smiles, barely, and he closes his eyes to just bask in everything that is Teddy, body already rolled to the side but face turned away, just the slightest, to keep his sanity.

He moved closer then, trying to leech of all the warmth Teddy let off. It was both to keep him from shivering and simply because he could.

He wonders why they stopped entirely. He--well, he knows, because this whole clusterfuck with Teddy and feelings and everything. He knows it's his fault, or mostly his fault, because he's the one who pushed away first--maybe. He misses the nights kept with Teddy safe and real by his side. He needs Teddy, dearly, but. But he has this. Now. It will be enough. It must.

He wondered if he could roll over completely and have Teddy’s body pressed to his. He was not touch starved, not him, no, not the quarterback, but Teddy was precious, Teddy was his, Teddy was the best thing that happened to his life. Anything was as much of a security blanket as that olive skin and lively eyes. He was Vincent’s secret Teddy Bear.

Vincent laughs at the thought, even now, because it is irony at best. Vincent wishes Teddy was just as soft as a bear’s inside wool. People never truly understand how cruel Teddy can be, whether intentional or not, joking or otherwise. His Teddy is sharp, in both meanings, and Vincent both loves and hates that part of him.

Teddy’s breath was deep and slow, just like how one’s was when well and asleep. It wouldn’t hurt if he tried, no?

Vincent just wishes he tried harder. Gathered everything before everything shattered in front of his eyes. He wonders if the world is just cruel or if it got tired of him moving about. He wishes it didn’t, or isn’t. If he’d just gone and grabbed with both hands, heart open and words spilling out, maybe he’d have a chance. Or maybe, seeing Teddy in his closed eyes, he doesn’t, no matter how hard he tried.

He took a deep breath and scooted the last few inches between him and his Teddy. It was when he felt the warmth press along his front that he finally opened his eyes. It was this close that he could see Teddy through the darkness, but not his every definition liked he’d wanted. It didn’t matter though, because he could feel Teddy extending into the depths of his own body and finally, the tension loosens into a bare whisper. He breathed in Teddy, and then again to take in and cage the breath Teddy breathed out, and his heart felt warm.

He shudders and aches. Yearns and longs and loves. His every emotion bolded and italicized because he just wants, wants to gather Teddy into his arms and hold him forever. Nothing keeping them apart much like how reality so enjoys to bring unto them.

He finally brought his arms up to Teddy’s torso, on top of the sheet as much as he’d like to have it under, feel Teddy’s warmth through his clothes, and told himself he would wake up earlier so his best friend wouldn’t catch him act clingy.

He can see in his recesses of his mind the names and words put together to form a statement and the quick smile Teddy sent him coming to school. He remembers the lack of announcement and his arms feel cold and empty. He tugs on the sheets, pale green and lacking warmth.

This is probably confusing but the present tense is now and the past tense is something Vincent is recalling. So basically it's alternating.

I wanted to try this style out because it seemed cool yo.
