yay caucuses; i'm a political nerd

I am so happy that Obama won the Iowa Caucus. Now, I think a caucus is a mildly ridiculous way of doing the selection process...not really, but kind of. But I know that people view Iowa as a proving ground for candidates, and I really like Obama. A lot. So I am very very happy that now, with 97% of precincts reporting, Obama has 37% of the vote to Edwards' 30% and Clinton's 29%. I didn't expect Edwards to inch out Clinton; maybe I should have, in Iowa at least. It will be interesting to see how the results turn out in New Hampshire, which is a very different state from Iowa. Five more days to see how that goes down. I love elections so much; that's what made me be a PoliSci major. So I get all nerdy about them. It's nice to be in DC right now because even though everyone isn't quite as into them as I am, they understand me and think it's cute. Yay!

In news unrelated to caucuses, I am trying to make friends with everyone here. I'm doing pretty well with the girls; we're a friendly bunch. I can definitely see some clique-y relationships forming, but nothing that I'm really worried about as of yet. I really like that our apartment has become the gathering place for everyone here; we're the ones with cable, internet, and a dartboard. It makes it easy to hang out with people when they just come over to your house.

Tomorrow I take a dry run of my work route on the Metro and take a tour of the Library of Congress, and try to clear up the last of my errands.

I am hanging up my mirror, which I got a new mirror piece for, so I am totally hoping it doesn't break again, because then I am totally screwed.

I have to go to bed so I will be up for my dry run.
