Did AS really claim Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Lyon was as important news as the ongoing bloody revolution in Libya? Really?

I've been following football long enough that I really shouldn't be surprised by these kind of things. But seriously, people. Let's try for some perspective.

"Lyon's goal cannot distract us from an image that will compete with Gaddafi in the news in the world," according to the Fiver.

That's AS, Day of Judgment could be happening and they'll favour Real Madrid failing than to cover it.

(But seriously: the analogy disgusts me to the core. Here I am watching a baby boy, killed yesterday, being washed by his family members before he's shrouded.)

Zombies kill seven-eighths of the world's population! Real Madrid game cancelled!

(I don't even have words for how disgusted I am. There is hyperbole, and then there is exaggeration so extreme it's truly offensive. Guess what, people, there are things that are more important than football. And you know what, PEOPLE DYING IS ONE OF THEM.)

Well, if MSN is having trouble deciding which is more important, the earthquake in NZ or Justin Bieber's new haircut...

...I'm just afraid that they might be right in their assessment of what their audience really cares about.
