More Msscribe Stuff

I truly don't want to pile on heidi8 when she is down, demanding instant apologies, explanations, and justification of all her actions and inactions over the past three years. That isn't polite or reasonable. On the other hand, what she is saying on her LJ is infuriating me. Here is what I just posted to her:

When I got Angua's email, I spoke about ( Read more... )

I don't admire it, but then, I think apologies that are framed in "if-then" terms ("I apologized if you were hurt/inconvenienced/lied to or about repeatedly" doesn't cut it for me) are nearly as reprehensible a use of language as retconning.

I am so glad you said this; I was wondering if it was just me! It's so *not* owning up when people say 'I'm sorry if I...' Much better to just say you're not sorry instead of trying to be tricky or trying to squirm out of blame.

Haven't been involved in this fandom in quite a long time, though I recognize a lot of names. Anyway, I've been following this stuff anyway even though I had little idea it was happening while I was in the fandom (what can I say, blissful ignorance), but this comment caught my eye:

THANK YOU. Ironically, I've been dealing with low-level wank in another fandom this week (everything is going to seem low-level after this), and the perpetrator of it all came up with an apology like this after calling me a whole bunch of names, to my face and otherwise. I'd give her credit for at least apologizing publicly... except her own fanpoodles rallied around her while everyone else was wondering what the heck was going on.

Sadly, no fandom is immune to any sort of idiocy, it seems.

I can understand being confused and hesitant to comment on this situation if you are Heidi, but right now she's trying to cover her ass. She needs to stop apologizing and realize that she screwed up big time and that a lot of innocent people were hurt and used. You had enough evidence there to make someone sit up and say that this needs to be examined more. But the truth is that she ignored it and she needs to fess up to that.

WOW.

THAT was Heidi's inconclusive evidence? I am more convinced than EVER that she is the Cornelius Fudge of the fandom.

"Cornelius Fudge" is the perfect way to put it. Nothing exists if it's going to make her look bad.

But that was only because Voldemort appeared before him! If Voldie hadn't shown up in the Ministry, Fudge would still be denying his return.

Some of us didn't get the chance. I feel like the man who stood on the riverside and watched his enemy's corpse float past.

It is a sign that she has finally woken up and smelled the coffee and realized that her name is pretty universally mud. And for someone whose role as BNF was nearly as important to her as to Msscribe, that is the worst possible news.
