Overwhelmed by sudden nostalgia, I rewatched all the Methos episodes of Highlander. Or to be more accurate, I fast forwarded through all the Methos episodes just for his scenes, haha. I was totally one of those people who did not give a fuck about the show and was only in it for Methos. I tend to hate fans who fixate on a supporting character and vocally dislike the rest of the show, but... I was totally one of those fans. *hangs head in shame*
I haven't rewatched any HL in a really really really long time. At least 12 years, if not more. I was in and out of HL fandom long before I became a total slasher, though of course, I knew about Duncan/Methos, because, well, it's Duncan/Methos. I was never put off by slash, just didn't understand it, and I definitely didn't get D/M. I think I read a few fics, out of curiosity, but it did nothing for me.
Rewatching the show now? Holy SHIT. They really were OFF THE CHARTS slashy. Oh the innocent eyes of yore. It's too bad that I hate MacLeod, but I find myself reading a TON of D/M right now. Most of it still isn't to my taste, because a lot of it was written way back when. I've long maintained that different eras of slash, no matter the fandom, have a certain style. Most slash before 2000 was incredibly purple. YMMV, but I believe popslash is what changed the landscape of slash, not just in breaking the RPS taboo, but stylistically, too, sort of like when post-modernism hit the literary world-- but that's getting a little too deep for the purposes of this post.
The point being, HOLY SHIT D/M is slashy wow what a revelation after so many years, and HOLY SHIT my love for Methos has come roaring back. I'm right back to being the 14 year old fangirl I had been. ♥____________♥ Peter Wingfield has a really gorgeous neck. I don't think I noticed this before, which would mean my 14 year old self was motherfucking blind, though the neck isn't really a part of the body that I notice much. But goddamn PW has a nice neck. Helps that Methos keeps sticking it out. :D
Oh oh, though back to the slash, lololol, okay even non-slashy me was @_______@ at Kronos and Methos back in the day. Nothing says love like greeting your BFF with a flying knife to the heart. Best reunion scene ever.

This is a pretty delightful romp into nostalgia. Even if it meant I had to suffer through Highlander: The Source. It pretty much ruins everything that makes Highlander Highlander, but it gave me new Methos material after so many years, right when I'm craving it, so I guess I can't complain too hard. Except for the part where it's profoundly bad.
I'll probably yak more about Highlander for a few more posts before I fixate on something else.
