Game of Thrones, 1.07 - You Win or You Die

Thus endeth the saga of Ned, the epically stupid.

I wish I can feel more sorry for him, and whatever tiny shred of pity is solely due to my affection for Sean Bean, but dear god, Ned is epically stupid, his whole house is epically stupid, so in some ways, I'm rather glad to see the end of their epic stupidity.

Except, oh wait, I still have to suffer through Jon Snow's epic stupidity. >_< There is no doubt in my mind that whatever his bio parentage may be, one of them HAS to be a Stark, because that is the only explanation for why he needed a character who is characterized as a complete loser to point out something so disgustingly obvious to him. Also: CHEER UP EMO JON.

I hate Cersei, but I'm LOVING how Lena Headey plays her. I'm sad to hear that Cersei is a complete tool in the books, because she's badass on the show, and I'm glad that she's badass. Ripping up Robert's letter in front of everybody is BOSS. Oh, and YES. Ding dong, the shitty king is dead. Hooray!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVING Dany. Maybe I'm just trying really hard here to make the relationship less problematic, but I do feel like it's Drogo who's all ♥_____♥ over Dany, which is totally fine with me, while Dany isn't feeling the same way in return. She's not in love with Drogo. He's a means to her end, which is the reclamation of her birthright. I love the look on her face when Drogo declares war. It's satisfaction. She's pleased to finally get what she wants. I love how there are all these hints of what a power hungry girl she is, whether it is an inherent Targaryen thing finally blossoming or just the raw deliciousness of being in control (to some extent) after being browbeaten for so long.

No Tyrion, sadly enough, but I suppose we cannot be blessed with Peter Dinklage's awesome all the time. We'd be spoiled.

The whole scene with Littlefinger and the whores is totally awkward and kinda OOC. I really don't buy that he'd say all that out loud, and it's not like we don't get what drives him. They've firmly established that he is not a man with titles and a bloodline, just a whole lot of cunning. And I saw plenty of disdain directed toward Ned, not just for being Catelyn's husband, but also for being epically stupid. This is one of those scenes where I'm just like "oh you" at HBO. Just because you can be gratuitous doesn't mean you have to.

I need to find myself a Dany icon.
