That last episode wasn't nearly as good as first few. I'm hoping it builds back up to some actual action. I'm not usually a zombie-genre fan. I mistakenly got hooked when I sat down to talk to my husband as he was starting episode 1. I agree that the gender and race issues are upstaging the zombies. I really want to know what happened with the father and son. Also I'm really liking Glenn. I was nice to see the cop defer to his judgement on where to start (Dixon or the guns?). At least they aren't adding ageism to the mix... yet.

I really liked the first episode, but I thought already by the second one, it was dropping in quality. Granted, yes, I love Glen, too. He is consistently the only good thing. Otherwise, it's a whole lot of boring for me. Should we rescue the raging racist? Let's whip up drama with a wife beater! It's like, seriously? That's the drama you're going to give us during a zombie apocalypse? The first ep was SO GOOD with Lennie James, and that whole scene where he's struggling to shoot his wife. That's zombie drama. Not zomg now there is a scary redneck on the loose.

And yes, I wish we get to find out what happens to the father and the son, too.

I was out with friends and mentioned my fear of all things zombie. One of them replied that 'if it [zombies on the streets of Liverpool London] ever happens, at least it's proof of life after death'. I may have laughed far too much at that.

That's what the majority of people are saying. But it's following the comic so it's not like they're deliberately making it boring. It is kind of filled with cliche's , no?

There's no racist fuckhead subplot in the comics, so I've been told, and the development of the "relationship" between Shane and Lori was different as well. So. IDK.

Yeah. This show's all over for me. My only last vestige of "give a damn" is that I look forward to the day I hear news of its cancellation.

It's not even so much that it's offensive, though there is that, but it's a fucking zombie apocalypse. THIS is the best drama you can come up with? Really? It feels so manufactured. I was alternately bored and annoyed.

Good point! Yeah. I was willing to ignore the sexism in the Pilot because it was just such a *good* and fascinating story. But once the sexism gets combined with racism *and* boredom, there's really no use bothering.

Hahahaha I was all like NOW I WANT THIS SHOW TO FAIL, too.

It's a goddamn zombie apocalypse. I wanna see decent human beings driven to desperation, people getting pushed to their limits and their character is tested. There is no drama when you've got Saint Rick and his Speeches of Humanity. There is no drama when you've got a flat out racist. There is no organic human drama, just set pieces. The wires of writing are supposed to be invisible, as though you're watching legit people doing legit shit, but I can see the strings everywhere, tugging the characters this way and that.
