You bet your ass I was all over that, except... the first ep was really good, but the second ep was the epitome of I am disappoint. It was like, man, who booked this crap.
yesdrizella and I were like HOLY SHIT IT'S BLACK PEOPLE anytime somebody of color showed up on TV. She laughed at us, saying well it's Atlanta, of course there'd be black people. And I say
yesdrizella has more faith in television than I do. Lord knows how many white-only casts have existed on shows that are set in ethnically diverse cities.
But like, of course there'd be some racist redneck clashing with a black dude. Seriously? You can't come up with something better than that? And Rick. RIIIIIIIICK. With his lame OH THE HUMANITY speech. Only to be topped by his HIS NAME WAS ROBERT PAULSON speech when he had to chop up the dead body. SERIOUSLY? Um, what about the 29374283939423943 zombies you shot in the head. I don't see you riffling through their pockets to memorialize their epic sacrifice. -_____________- Also Rick is very fond of wasting ammo. It kinda pisses me off.
Glenn is like the only good thing about the show right now. I should check to see if the writer of this ep is Asian. Maybe it's SABOTAGE. 'Cause the white characters' dialogue all sucked beyond the telling of it while his ruled.
I'm really annoyed at how they seem to be depicting Lori to be some trampy ho who jumped in with Douchebrow way too quickly after Rick's "death." They keep saying that she's been through a lot, blah blah blah, but the way they're doing it gives me a sense that they're showing it to be inappropriate (she's romping it while Rick is oh so valiantly trying to find her), rather than a function of necessity and grief or whatever. Maybe they'll turn the tables on that, who knows. But right now, I'm like 16 kinds of DNW.
Contrast all of this maudlin drama with the intensity of Lennie James holding a rifle, trying to put his wife out of her misery but he just couldn't do it. That's a pretty sharp decline going from first to second ep, and when you've got six eps only, you need to be banging it every single second.
Considering there are only six episodes, there is no point not to keep going, but I am disappoint so far.
