Please tell me I'm not the only one who wants to punch the lead guy of The Glades in the face every time a commercial for it airs? I don't give a shit what the show is about, but he annoys me like he epitomizes everything that's wrong with television with the predominance of smug white men as leads who are just so goddamn brill and different while ( Read more... )

i feel strongly about this, i'm part of the precipitate, criminal minds, ranty mcrant

I think the worst of it is that it's part of a pattern. Apparently the reason Melina Kankaredes isn't back for the new series of CSI:NY is because they asked her to take a pay cut. It'd be interesting to know if the male cast members were asked to do so and whether they were the same size of cut.

OH MY GOD ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. I KNEW ABOUT HER LEAVING BUT I THOUGHT SHE WANTED TO MOVE ONTO SOMETHING ELSE, NOT A PAYCUT. AND YES, I'LL BE VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW THAT AS WELL.

OMG RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE

I hadn't even heard she was leaving so I was more than a little bzuh what as well, because I love Stella. Let's also not discuss that rumour (and I must disclaim that it is nothing more than rumour) has it that Angell was cut for money reasons too.

I heard about her leaving, but I really thought she was sick of being on the same show or she was burning out/needing a rest or whatever, which is a belief with no factual basis, only that *I* would get sick of being on CSI:NY for so damn long when the show has gotten so ridic. But if it's because of sexist money cutting ways? HULK SMASH.

Even if Angell weren't cut for money reasons, she was killed for the sake of giving Flack angst, which is bad enough in itself.

In which there's agreement and disagreement.

In the case of Angell in particular, I think I can just about cope with them offing Angell for cheap angst (NY presently has a pass on cheap because they've at least had one character growing in a semi-realistic manner, and okay, it's the main character, but OMG, semi-realism in my cheap thrill show), but I'd rather them have done something interesting with the character leaving, characters used to leave for promotions and relocations on cop shows, why don't they do that any more.

In the case of why yet more dead female characters, why yet more dead female characters?!!

I wouldn't have a problem with Angell leaving via death if it weren't for the fact that they'd killed Aiden off early on in the show as well. That's two cheap deaths for female characters. Considering the show itself started out with Mac with a dead wife so he can be all gloomy and sad, that's a pretty gross track record.

Yeah, CSI:NY and I had a mini-break-up over Aiden. It had been winning me back with some spectacularly odd plots but I'm not sure I will forgive them if they kill off Stella. She is allowed to leave, but only for good things.

I really liked Vanessa Ferlito dammit, and I still think Aiden >>>>>> Lindsay. Urgh. I've really tried, but Lindsay still annoys the crap out of me.

IF THEY KILL OFF STELLA I'LL GO POSTAL.
