Burn Notice // Leverage // White Collar

I hate Burn Notice for always ending on a cliffhanger. WTF man. That's bullshit. I still hate Jesse a lot, and I really cannot stop mourning the fact that Amaury Nolasco would be 9000 times better. I'm not sure there's ever been a situation where I feel SO STRONGLY that another actor would fit a character so much better. Like, speculation sometimes. Oh, Actor A would do such a better job. But this is like, just, dead-on certainty. It's like, the look, the demeanor, the chops. Everything. Urgh. On the other hand, I feel like Fi, other than where she pertains to Jesse, has been consistently awesome in every way. We've come a long way from S1. She has definitely become one of my favorite female characters of all time.

As much as I've been enjoying the show and find the writing to be flawless most of the time, I do think cracks are showing by this point. I want BN to wrap after S5, and I really have no qualms about saying that. There is a reason why the sixth season of most shows is known as Season Sux. Five is the best lifespan of any show, even the best shows. So I really hope BN wraps after five.

As for Leverage, man, why is nobody talking about Leverage? Except, okay, *I've* stopped talking about Leverage, too, so I guess I'm part of the problem as well. I've bitched before about how much I don't like the unrealistic cons, but in a lot of ways, S3 is MUCH better than S2, on a more even keel. A lot of it is tied to Nate, in some ways. There is far less forced Nate/Sophie content, which makes for less facepalm. Nate himself is more interesting, for embracing his inner asshole. He really is a bastard this season, and I love him so much better for it. And because the Nate/Sophie content is reduced, Sophie got to develop. And GAH, she's just hitting it this season. Gina Bellman, btw, is looking resplendent. I'm glad she's got the longer hair again, because the short from last year was terribly unflattering. But she's been utterly ravishing this season. As much as I enjoyed Jeri Ryan's Tara, I'm glad Sophie's back.

And I gotta say, "The Rashomon Job" alone has made me forgiven every single grievance I had against John Rogers. That was an amazing episode. Not that it was flawless, but I was on the fun train every single second of the way. And more importantly, I can FEEL it as a writer. And that's always been the thing with John Rogers. There are better writers, but his attitude... it's like... I don't know. This feels possibly awkward and egotistical to say, because I'm certainly not a semi-successful television writer, but he feels like MY kind of writer. The way he sees it, the way he does it. I love his blog posts, and I'm always nodding in agreement.

Oh, oh, also. Sophie/Eliot. Seriously. I love how 2 and a half seasons later, I'm gunning for a totally different 'ship. Though I don't 'ship them so much as I want them to have wild dirty sex.

White Collar continues to be the slashiest fucking show on television. I mean, seriously. SERIOUSLY. Even Tim DeKay (who plays Peter) is all for it. I wish I can find the exact quote dammit, but he was talking about Peter and Neal's relationship and likening it to the classic UST-wrought relationships of TV past. Something about IF THEY TRUST EACH OTHER COMPLETELY THEY'D BE IN BED TOGETHER. Which, you know. Yeah. I saw the S1 gag reel, which ends with Matt Bomer singing "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" which is *______________* because it's one of my favorite oldies and he has a lovely voice. I still think Matt Bomer/Neal Caffrey is aesthetically pleasing rather than sexually attractive. Give me Peter Burke any day of the week. I previously said I didn't want any woman to be bamboozled by Neal in a romantic way, and I guess it really speaks to what appeals to me in men, because Neal, as charming and gorgeous as he is, sets off my alarm like crazy. Too good-looking, too charming, too good to be true. What's the catch? Whereas Peter is like the personification of stability and provider. And wow, way to be very stereotypical chick, self. -_____-

That's pretty much the only TV I've been watching. BN is done until November, Leverage is done after next week until ???, and White Collar has 2 more before being done until January. I'm not sure I'm going to have much for the fall. I've mostly given up on catching up on The Mentalist, and Criminal Minds and I are on the cusp of being done professionally. Legend of the Seeker is gone (CRIES FOREVER), and 24 is over. So, not much TV for me. The only thing piquing my interest is Shattered, with Callum Keith Rennie. The promos look REALLY interesting, but we shall see how that pans out.

white collar, tv, john rogers: like ceiling cat in a way, leverage, burn notice
