So over a year ago, I started my Conspiracy Wall, which I posted about
here. I always meant to do update posts, but I lost my camera and I got lazy, plus I don't want to jinx my writing, so I didn't. Chitchatting with
kuteki the other day reminded me of this, and with her and
aurora_84's encouragement, I bring you an update.
This is what the wall looked like quite a few months back:
The quality is crap because I took it with my cellphone camera. As you can see, the wall has grown significantly since that first post of mine a year ago. Marks got shunted off to the side, unfortunately, where it has remained, because I haven't really had the time or inclination to play with it.
I managed to get a better pic later, with some changes to the wall:
Each column represents a fandom, mostly. Kinda. From left to right, it is:
Wrestling, Mag7, The Mentalist, Pinto, Misc. (24, other RPF, Leverage)
There is vaguely a system with the colors. Blue/pink represent actual stories that I've started, alternating columns for clarity; yellow is plot notes, bunnies, scenes, ideas, whatever, anything that isn't set in stone.
That one above is taken when I still had the Mentalist Five Things on the board. The working title for the fic, if you can make it out, was "angels follow me wherever I may go," which is so pretentious omg, taken from a Big & Rich song of all things. I opted against that title in the end, and since I only had four things, I went with Four Things.
You can also see, btw, how Pinto spawned from two fics to, BAM, five.
And now the current wall:
From left to right, again:
I don't know why I still keep wrestling on there. "Basic Human Decency" is an Oubliette that I'm writing solely for
yesdrizella and
evilgmbethy, though I haven't touched it in a long while. "The Other Side" is the goddamn Austin Aries vampire hunter AU that I'm really fond of in theory, but fail miserably at in the actual writing. These will probably go the next time I do a major revision on the wall. "Paladin" used to be on there, but I think I've (mostly) put that to rest. In some ways, it was carthartic to take that post-it off the wall.
"Tanglewood Tree" isn't technically part of any fandom. It's sort of this multi-fandom project I've been considering for awhile, but probably won't happen, because me and epic ideas are always doom to failure.
Next is the Mag7 column. "Four Crimes" has been stalled for a good period of time now, but I really don't want to give up on it. I haven't even posted "Simple Things" yet though, so. "Context" is in brackets because it actually hasn't been started, not technically. It's basically my amnesia fic, because I've always wanted to do a fandom cliche fic. The ishy thing is that the bunny was originally for Enterprise. I've written the bare bones of the story, and I really really like it, and I wanna transfer it into the Mag7 setting. It's more wishful thinking more than anything though, because "Four Crimes" is my priority, and it's just lying fallow.
Then we've got The Mentalist. "Two Graves" is my Wrongfic for
pensive1. I blurred some stuff out, because they're visible plotnotes and I don't wanna spoil. :D "Grace" is an idea that I originally came up with for Five Things, but it didn't fit thematically, so I yanked it out. It's in yellow because I don't know if it'll actually get written. I see it and feel it in my head, but it's not particularly lending itself to words. Prof!Jane/Co-ed!Grace is kinda there for the lulz. I always mean to write more for that 'verse. Again, yellow because I don't know if I ever will.
PINTO! The Matrix!AU, if you notice, got yanked off the board. "just tell 'em we're survivors" is the very first idea I got for Pinto, just this... thing that tracks their friendship and relationship and the struggle with publicity, and the idea was fresh when I first started, but now it's kinda tired and old since a lot of people have explored it already and done it well. But I still like it, and I still wanna write it, because I feel like it's THE fic. But that generally means I never finish it. >.< The first idea I get for a fandom and/or pairing is always the one I never get done.
"All Your Heart" is the FBI!Chris/SerialKiller!Zach fic. That title, incidentally, was supposed to be used, like, five years ago for a Cypress fic (wrestlefandom) that never got written. I love it when I can recycle ideas, haha. "Bright Lights" is the America's Sweethearts AU. Then we've got "your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear," which probably will get scraped, because it's supposed to be funny, and I can't write humor to save my life. :( Not on the board is "a change will do you good," the Chris/Zach, Chris/Karl PWP that possibly won't see the light of day, because, I don't know, I'm not happy with it, and I can't seem to rewrite it.
Last column. "Exile," which is 24, Jack/Tony, supposed to be set 2 years after Day 7. I had the bunny before, uh, certain things happened. I don't know if it'll get written anymore. I had it SO CLEAR in my head, but I made the mistake of sitting on the bunny, and now the intensity of the vision has passed.
Under that is an untitled Jason Statham/Chris Evans RPS fic. That is actually the very first piece of RPS I started. I want to write this SO BAD, just for the sake of it. But on the other hand... I'm the ONLY person who'd be interested in this, so. I write stuff for myself, yes, but sometimes there are ideas that are more fun to be played with inside my own head.
"Tethered" is a Crews/Reese PWP that's honestly never gonna get written, but I keep it there because, I don't know. I like torturing myself, I guess.
"An Honest Man" was supposed to be my epic Leverage fic. It was based on a lot of spec that the show actually delivered on in the later part of the first season, so the idea became obsolete. This is the fic that I bitched about to have been Jossed, like, five times in three episodes or something. This whole section is gonna get scrapped, because I don't consider myself to be a part of Leverage fandom anymore. I don't read the fics, and I have no plans to write for it anymore.
The notes, btw, are quotes. They would've been the thematic focus, though I would've used only one as the epigraph:
"We're insurance men, Nate. We don't care about who's guilty or who's innocent. Just who pays."
"When a thief kisses you, count your teeth."
"You'd give anything to get what's fair, but fair ain't what you really need."
Despite how full the board looks, I'm really only working on Pinto and The Mentalist, for a very general sense of "work" considering how much not writing I've been doing lately. Bleh.
