Today was a day of contentment.
I finished the inks for my "What i did on my summer vacation" page for Jansen just in time, despite how the white out kept making the ink corrections smudge. >_> I think I feel really content because I did an actual comic page that I'm happy with for the first time since "The Adventures of Batdog and Supercat".
I know it's way overused, but like most cliques there's a reason for it; I feel like I just learned to float after struggling on my own, kicking and splashing and making a general ruckus to try and figure out how to swim. Comics are starting to click in my head and it's such a wonderful feeling.
The other night I was having one of our many deep late night kibbits with Teylor and she said how walking back from the "gathering" she felt content, which she had mistaken for apathy at first. I have to say I feel very content indeed. We're worried that like Edvard Munch once we're cured of our emo-tainted states we will have no inspiration left, no reason to challenge ourselves. I think that the thing with our contentment is our being content with challenge and with using art to overcome it time and again.
So now it's time to be horrible and say something stupid like: Now that I've figured out how to float I can't wait to learn how to swim and find my special stroke. ^^
