Back in Session!

So it's been the first two days of school and the ball is more than rolling... it's kinda rampaging unstoppably over villages and small to medium sized mammals (mostly farm related) towards the lake filled valley that it was meant to create a pleasent splash in rather than the tsunami that will likely destroy all neighboring mountain towns that it looks to be. This mostly refers to my ideas for thesis and time management.

So yesterday Skutsch's class was amazing, as his others have been. I'm not too frightened by his speech of toughening up the class cause I took him because I love his classes not because I wanted an easy A, that was just an added bonus. I believe the class is off to a great start since I asked if he would dance for us if we came on time as a way of encouraging punctuality. He gave a stern no and sarcasticly warned us against making sardonic comments. No more shall he hear sarcasm from my mouth (at least not next week) I have a different surprise for him.

I also got a lot done yesterday afternoon, library and RA stuffs, other than that I can't remember.

Today was about sleeping. ( After I keyed in Greg cause he locked himself out of his room)

I woke up at around noon after having many dreams I couldn't at all recollect. It was a call from my mom about how my apple care was really comp usa guarentee or something like that (all this time) which I must investigate this weekend. Then I looked up compusa locations and talked to caroline, took a shower and headed downtown for Pictoral Problems, with David Mazzucchelli (The man who did batman year one).

I got down there half an hour early so I decided to hang out with meg and the wsva gang until more people showed up. Then Mazzucchelli showed up and I was so happy. Hilary was right, he's an amazingly sweet guy with an amazing ability to teach. It didn't even break me up as badly as I thought it would for him to say I probably shouldn't do a photo comic for my thesis. I will make an argument for it but I understand why he thinks I should wait until my post-thesis comic to try out a new method. I really just wish I had known about the RA position over the summer so I could have bought a camera and been practicing all summer.

In terms of my comics this year and all my work I really want to start learning how to actually learn and improve more. I seemed to not listen so much to what my teachers said or to apply things that they had mentioned so much. I did improve a little, but I wasn't really pushing myself to take leaps in my work. I really need to do that now.

After class, Cindy, Caroline and I went to Quizno's and split a larg sub three ways. It was perfect. Uhmmmn, avacado. I made a mess of myself just in time for Teylor to show up, haha. She decided she should actually go home for dinner but we talked about Phil Jimenez (or what I had heard about him from Kasey) before she departed. Soon after Caroline and I headed for Strand and Cindy for home (though she got sidtracked by forbidden planet). I found out from the awesome guy at the info counter on the second floor that Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics is hard to come by used or at their half off price so he put me on a waiting list for when the next set comes in. Then I saw it... sitting there, as big as my Richard Scarry's Biggest Word Book Ever! , the second printing of the Little Nemo in Slumberland book. I turned right on my heel and marched back to put one on hold and the same guy I talked to before examined the books with me to find one in perfect condition. I only need to clear it with my mom as my birthday present and it'll come home with me to the VY. I giggled like a school girl when I told Caroline once I found her in the paranormal section. I can't wait to see joey tomorrow and tell him.

Me and Caro proceeded to the GW where we found out I had made her late to her floor meeting and I appologized to Amma. Then ate 5 of her cupcakes. Then Chelsea came down for her's and I decided to stick around for video games. Chelsea called me down from the Mez and I was halfway down when Cherish had a quick surprise for me. A little dazed, I got down to the security desk and found that Chelsea had also planned pizza but phoning wasn't working. So she asked and I went with her to order take out from Bravo's on park. On the walk back I kept demanding to carry the pizza (cause she has a gimp knee that was hurting a lot) until I gestuculated a little too much, catapulting the bag of plates and napkins onto the sidewalk and giving her concrete reason to refuse my offer.

Once we got back we all chitchatted and she pwnd us all in Soul Calibur III before heading to bed (she had to be up at 3). By midnight nick was kicking my ass in revenge for my earlier luck and it was time for us all to go our seperate ways.

Two seconds into my bike ride home and a cab driver hoots at me something like hey hottie... which I often dismiss to another person, but knowing there was no one else around took both compliment and offense to it as I ignored him and biked down the block. I got home to no internet and soon no power for 5 min and then it all came back to working status once the mantinence guy came up. The 5 min was enough to be able to finally talk to kelly in a normal and not an "I'm sorry you're going for your MFA and are stuck with a bunch of first-years and me" way. Meaning I got to ask her about Ann Arbor and found out she used to waitress at Seva where Casey is trying to get a job now. She said she got tired of people asking the ingredients in everything, which I found hilarious in a "that's so true way." Veggies are just so damn picky ; ).

Now it's time to find my comics to trade with Abbi and then go to bed.
