What a weekend. Lets start with Friday, shall we? Ok, so you know all that stuff I said about Tim and I the other day, how we are good parents and I'm so proud of us blah blah... yeah, well... throw that out the door, we had two strike outs in two days :P
So Tim and I came up with an agreement that he would get Ash off of the school bus wed-fri each week... every other week he would take Ash with him on Fridays, so Ash would be with him every other weekend. I told him on Thursday that mom and I were taking Ash to a play on Friday... mom gets Ash off of the bus on Mon and Tues... well... Tim thought that meant mom was getting Ash off the bus Friday. I didn't say that, but he assumed because mom was going to the play with us... short story longer... no one was here.
The bus driver, actually paying attention to details noticed that no cars were in the drive... so she had Ash check the house before she pulled away. He went back out to the bus and got on, rode around to all the other school (thinking Middle School was very cool) and ate lots of Resees Cups. They called Tim and he went to the bus depot to pick Ash up. I was terrified, thinking Ash would be terrified, but he didn't mind. Tim and I still felt like shit. At least we learned NEVER to assume when it comes to child rearing.
So we got through that and Saturday morning Ash had a karate tournament. The paper read "Saturday March 11th at 10am". Somehow I managed to read from that "Saturday at 11am". We were up in plenty of time, had a nice leisurely morning, and at 10:30 my sister said "why didnt you go, it was at 10" I said "no, its not until 11" at which time she showed me the flyer and I felt like a COMPLETE failure!
Because of the flub up Friday Ashton wanted to wait and go to the play Saturday so he could still have time to play with his friends. So Saturday we went to see Aladdin. It was really good. Ashton had a great time, and said he would like to do that (be in a play). It was a great performance and very impressive that it was all little kids. Some of them have phenominal voices.
Today Ash and I went ice skating. That was an adventure. I hadn't been since I was a little kid, and he had only been once when he was three. I think he broke the worlds record for falls, but he never cried, never got hurt, and got up every time to try again. I was proud of him. We had so much fun. Amazingly enough I never fell. He said he wants to do that "lots more" so we may make it up there more. I enjoyed it immensely even though Im sure my legs will be aching in the morning.
We came home from there and made pizza. Now he is watching Inspector Gadget before bed. All in all it has been a wonderful weekend. I really think I am going to enjoy having him home.
This week is going to be long, but probably go by pretty quickly. I have a clinic set-up on Wednesday and Thursday, so I'll be gone Wednesday night. I don't have to stay, but it will give me extra time with the trainers.
Hope everyone had as fun a weekend as I did... and a great week!
